The third floor gathers together works that seek to provide an altered or utopian experience of architectural space. For example, his Giant Psycho Tank (2000) invites viewers to float weightlessly in the water of a sensory deprivation pool, providing a tenebrous, out-of-body experience.
Re: Sensory Deprivation Tank

So nobody here has done it before? I find that hard to believe .

Rogan is the poster child for these tanks, his videos will make you want to go find one immediately.

Re: Sensory Deprivation Tank

I won't post about these again but seriously, nobody here has gone on a float?

#1706637Post 10 of 20

Re: Sensory Deprivation Tank

I wanted to a year or two ago, but couldn't find them here.

Why don't you just take a salt bath with the lights off?

Re: Sensory Deprivation Tank

Or...

Nahhhh...

The place I found in Sydney was a $120.00 for an hour (Sydney right...) Is this worth it to float in water for an hour? I'd rather sauna myself off till the skin in my gooch magically turns into an extension of my testicle, therefore, third testicle.

Re: Sensory Deprivation Tank

^I don't even :roflmao: $120? that's absurd. I did it for $20, granted it was a groupon, normally $35 for first float, then $40 after. It was one of the most unique experiences I've ever had. You feel like you are floating - zero gravity.

@Tiddles. don't get it buddy, it's gotta be sound proof completely, so a bath won't work. It also has to be temperature controlled so ya. As well as a large enough area so that your don't touch the walls or whatever.

Re: Sensory Deprivation Tank

does unique experiences equate to good?

#1706651Post 14 of 20

Re: Sensory Deprivation Tank

"good" is really oversimplifying the experience though I know what you mean G. If you enjoy free thought and out of body experiences, then it's good. After the float you feel at peace and colors are brighter. I smiled a lot at strangers after the float, and had a sense of well being I hadnt had in a long time.

Re: Sensory Deprivation Tank

how long did you stay in the tank?

#1706660Post 16 of 20

Re: Sensory Deprivation Tank

I decided on 2 30 min floats vs 1 1hr float. It was pretty intense :). I really have nothing to compare the experience with.

Re: Sensory Deprivation Tank

they have one locally? lol id definitely like to try it. Joe Rogan was not exactly sober when he did this...were you?

#1706941Post 18 of 20

Re: Sensory Deprivation Tank

I was sober, however, the day before I did have two moles removed for biopsy at the skin doctor, and they gave me 2 shots to numb the 2 areas... I almost fainted because the blood rushed out of my head so fast and I was sitting up, not from the pain. The first float you are getting used to the weightlessness sensation and it is a little disorienting at first, and I think the medicine from the day prior didn't help. But yes to answer your question, i was sober and I recommend being sober. Unless you have floated in zero g before.

im looking into this right now. the wife is down for it too lol.

Re: Sensory Deprivation Tank

Do it man, it's some next level shizzle dizzle for rizzle. And I appreciate that your wife is open-minded enough, most women, including my wife and some friends of mine that I've told about it don't have any interest.
