Re: A Fresh Perspective on Trance
Seems like a cool guy with a nice view on music, thanks for sharing.
Re: A Fresh Perspective on Trance
there's some awfully retarded dubstep, but i have to say, like he was saying in his article, the genre has progressed. to the point where i enjoy some of it. thanks for sharing. this dude seems pretty down to earth.
Re: A Fresh Perspective on Trance
I thought what he said about a woman's voice being the ultimate instrument to be really interesting as well. I tend to agree.
Re: A Fresh Perspective on Trance
me too. i thought that his perspective and justification was interesting. "i'll never be able to master that instrument."
Re: A Fresh Perspective on Trance
very interesting, thanks for sharing :)

never thought I'd hear you say you like trance! ;)
Re: A Fresh Perspective on Trance
Whenever someone would ask what type of music I like, I would always say "Progressive House". But in reality I was always a trance man. Whenever I hear a song in a set I like, I try to get the unmixed version of that song one way or another. Most of the songs are trance/prog trance, or as someone said "House with melody."
Re: A Fresh Perspective on Trance
The Trance music never gonna be the same like it was before 2000. true story.
Re: A Fresh Perspective on Trance
I dunno. I wasn't the same person I was 13 years ago. All art means something new to me now, whether it be music or a movie. But I do agree, your first time is always special, no matter what.

Some of them chicks are pretty hot.
Re: A Fresh Perspective on Trance
^^^^^^
Yeah, I dont care if they have not brain.
Re: A Fresh Perspective on Trance
the chicks at Edc were insane, so many, not wearing much. Kinda laughable at how different it was compared to like a progressive house scene
Re: A Fresh Perspective on Trance
I've always been a metal guy! I've noticed that theres some kind of connection to those who grew up on metal and now are huge on trance.
Re: A Fresh Perspective on Trance
metal and electronic music seem to be blending together these days. there is some really good stuff out there.
DQ - it all started for me through trance... until jibs set me straight and introduced me to progressive house. :) funny how we tend to circle back around in our music tastes. although i think the definition of progressive house and trance has been kinda blurred these days.

Re: A Fresh Perspective on Trance
Unrelated to this thread, but related to Trance, someone posted ISOS 2 the other day, and so I listened and recalled how good that mix is at times. So I searched for In Search of Sunrise today and saw there was like 11 of them or something? So are any of these any good? Looking for honest opinions. If your thing is minimal house and you hate this kind of music, you can just ignore this post :).

Re: A Fresh Perspective on Trance
the first 3 ones were not bad, then it went downhill. richard durrand mixed the last volumes instead of tiesto me thinks
Re: A Fresh Perspective on Trance
I'm actually enjoying "5" right now, but that's because it brings back memories of California. I didn't realize I had listened to that many of them until today. I'm sure I haven't heard past 5 though. I figured they stopped, since I stopped listening to trance about 8 yrs ago.
Re: A Fresh Perspective on Trance
The good "Trance" died around 2000-2001, for me, so, I would like to hear the first two, Not to mention that tiesto its not my favourite.

5 is highly underraterd....
the transition from track 9 to 10 on disc 1 is quality. but that cover of Your Loving Arms is terrible.
ISOS 4 is really good too....
I think the reason why people quickly dismiss most ISOSs after 3 is because thats when Tiesto started experimenting with other genres.
Re: A Fresh Perspective on Trance
^good pt, you're most likely correct

Re: A Fresh Perspective on Trance
Is that right^ interesting!
Re: A Fresh Perspective on Trance
Solarstone's Electronic Architecture compilations brought back my interest for trance. check them out guys
Re: A Fresh Perspective on Trance
Thx for the tip klangfabrik... Solar was at EDC and was really the only solid music I heard besides Digweed. Although I was stuck at one stage.
