Re: Eat, Fast, and Live Longer
yah man, calorie restriction is good stuff. Basically only eat foods that have the fewest ingredients. And don't eat more than you need to workout and be healthy. Nick's diet is great.
Re: Eat, Fast, and Live Longer
Very interesting. I was wondering though, does a calorie restriction diet prevent you from being an active athlete (that do weight resistance exercises, not simply cardio) or developing muscle mass?
Re: Eat, Fast, and Live Longer
You are always either at a calorie surplus or deficit. Think about it that way. To gain mass you are in loading mode, to lose wait a restrictive mode.
basically
Re: Eat, Fast, and Live Longer
Well for someone who is fit with relatively low bodyfat anyways and eats mostly unprocessed foods, would these fasting diets or calorie restriction diets do much?
Looked up some info, if you are underweight already, caloric restriction can increase risk of mortality. :O
Re: Eat, Fast, and Live Longer
It depends on what degree I suppose. I just try to stay at my personal fighting weight and energy level.
Re: Eat, Fast, and Live Longer
Very informative.. thank you for sharing!
I've been at the same average weight for about 10 years (b/w180-190) so I really haven't made any significant changes to my diet. I just eat as much as I need..its easy once you can read your body. I've always been physically active which probably masks some of my choices when it comes o certain foods, for example I think I eat way too much peanut/almond butter ..hah
However I am expecting that to change once I get into my 30s, I would either have to do more physical exercise, or go on one of those fasting - eating type diets.
I was surprised at what they said about the mice and their neurological activity during calorie restricted diet..
Re: Eat, Fast, and Live Longer
I'd have to say I have definitely minimised on the amount of food I eat for lunch and dinner. Start off with a pretty filling breakfast and just drag that on to the full extent. Now that I'm back at sitting in front of the computer for most of the day I'll have to cut back on the crap.
Re: Eat, Fast, and Live Longer
Basically if you workout daily, and eat healthy, the rest will eventually fall into place. IMO
Re: Eat, Fast, and Live Longer
^Very true.
Re: Eat, Fast, and Live Longer
That's what I thought but the whole talk about risk of cancers made me question that. Fit, healthy people still have risk of various types of cancers if I'm not mistaken. And from the documentary, it seems like these types of extreme dieting schedules can reduce those risks of cancers, above and beyond just regular healthy eating and exercising.
Re: Eat, Fast, and Live Longer
I think you're over thinking it.
Re: Eat, Fast, and Live Longer
:D I hope so!
