Re: Live in ?

I would like to see him bring out the older stuff, I'm sure in his oracle of a HDD he has some belters out there. All it would need is remastering and pressed into vinyl. When Bedrock was at Heaven, now that would be wicked. Or even a rare Twilo delight.

I do not care for your new treats, bring me your vintage chateau.

Re: Live in ?

True, would be nice if he would mix it up a bit. Between his current gigs and the old tapes he could be putting out compilations four times a year, Transitions every week, and not release a Bedrock comp ever unless he wants to.

Really fascinating how the Digweed brand has evolved. I wonder if this was always in the works when he started Bedrock. That would've been one helluva foresight.

Who'd have thought a DJ would go from being beholden to a label, putting out comps on Renaissance, MOS, Jackpot, and GU to a one-man empire with his own label which is not uncommon but a radio show and his own Live In comps.

Google says he's worth 45 million.

Thinking about it I do wonder if he should give more time and space to showcase the artistes on Bedrock and let them do some comps to bring up the next generation.

As I was reading your post I was entertaining the thought that he might do a "live in" with one of the bedrock artists or guest dj...a couple discs each to get a real vibe..eg Live in with xx with Guy J...or even something like Danny Howells' warm up set that was on electronic groove...

but as tiddles said..as long as these keep getting released

Re: Live in ?

Live in classics series....

the logistics behind licencing tracks might become a nightmare though.

In general though, as we all might have seen in interviews, Digweed is about playing good new tracks
Also.. i think all of these Live ins should be played at high volume and maybe remove some furniture in the room
Haha, i concur!

Re: Live in ?

Outstanding mix, loved all four CDs. Especially the fourth one, that mix makes me feel like Im flying. :) The vibe reminds me of his Costa Rica set in 2003, one of my favorites mixes.

Re: Live in ?

Anyone know if there is a dub version of this track available? Not digging the male vocals.. but I love the track.

Re: Live in ?

When Digweed dropped Traumer - Sofa in May, I was utterly convinced it was a remix of Electric Rescue - Lilli -- still can't believe it's not. That said, I prefer it to Lilli :D

Re: Live in ?

After re-reading this entire thread... I can't believe some of you aren't enjoying CD 1 as much... so far disk 1 is the only disk that I have heard ... thoroughly enjoyed it with headphones on... I would go mental if I heard it in a club.... Yes, that Brought to Bare track is the only one that is still growing on me (not a fan of male vocals..period) Just stalling before I hear the rest of the album... afraid I'll ruin the experience..

JD's mixing is like sipping fine bourbon.... intense with slow deliberate movements and burns in the right places as it goes down.

Re: Live in ?

What I love is he obviously is not using the sync-button in the new Pioneer CDJs. Fuck that, I'd get bored with playing with a sync. Mixing with CDJs is easy enough as it is.

Really ?

The CD 1 its just amazing, keeping the line most of the time with great tracks, almost the perfect sound for me, low bpm melodies, vocals, sounds like a warm up, something that I love,

Re: Live in ?

can someone make me an edit of CD2 without that Pachanga boys bullshit?

#1705984Post 214 of 235

Re: Live in ?

Haven't got round to listening to CD4 yet -- but otherwise each CD has its moments! (Think JD may have overindulged in the effects at times though...) CD1 is my favourite at present. As Greg said, the mix into the SuSoul track is quality; one of those "Digweed moments"...

Re: Live in ?

CD 4:

 1. Prism - John Digweed & Nick Muir Versus Jamie Stevens 10. Roach Hotel - Pele & Shawnecy - Pele & Shawnecy
 2. Fuck Jack - Carlo Lio & Harvey McKay

And you got WTF just happened...

Re: Live in ?

^Word.

I was listening to CD 2 yestrday, and to say the least I really hated the second half of it. Really does go into tangents and not really a well thought out track selection. Will say that out of the whole Live in series CD 2 Argentina will be my least favourite.

Re: Live in ?

I am finally gonna get around to giving Disk 4 a spin later today.... can't wait.

Re: Live in ?

Loving CD3! Out of Nowhere must have been fun in that crowd :) Curiously track 12, Dawnbreaker, followed the last track of CD 3 of Live in London (the Quivver track): Bedrock 14th Anniversary - John Digweed - Fire, London - MOV04191.MPG - YouTube

Watched the DVD a couple of weeks back ... looked amazing - especially the Audion vs. Tiga 'Lets Go...' track, teasing the crowd.

The DVD is a very nice.. great energy at both parties! I wonder if the initial plan was to release the Montreal show @ Stereo.. was this meant for a later release ?
