Re: Confessions

Your friend is using you as a free producer. My best friend did the same thing with me - except I acted as his manager. I did it because I wanted to support him and his art, wasn't ever looking for money. However, if he made it "big" I also told him a little something would be fine too... I made him his website, business cards, got him gigs, promoted etc. Now I don't have the time but I still act as a conduit between him and labels or interested business entities from time to time. I will say, the karma response has been real. I do feel like I have been very blessed this year. You are a good friend Juan, and a giving person, like me. Just don't be giving to the point where it takes aways from your personal life too much... because you aren't being paid. Be nice about it, but learn to say "not right now." Help him when it's convenient for you. If he is actually making $$$ at it, he needs to either start paying you for your time or hire someone.
My truly best friend moved to Playa del Carmen, Mexico... Looking for a better life than he had here in Buenos Aires.. no matter what job he can get or whatever

He knows about music and he is pretty good mixing things up.. But being fair, he does not know about music like most of MS members does.. if you all know what i mean..

The thing is.. Every week he asks me for new tunes, new djs, new stuff he should know... i give him everything i can, considering the stuff i like can make some money if you use it properly in the right place.. lol

Honestly, he is Djing and earning pretty good money by now.. and since i know him pretty well, im sure it`s because he is a great dude.. more than his Djing skills..... somehow, i am feeling he should say something about it.... i am not looking for a profit but at least a thank....i dont what to stop providing everything i like and want to share whit him

As he is my best friend i should probably say something ??

My confession is that i`m done whit being the best friend on this...
Re: Confessions

Achtungbaby, your creative genius is your golden ticket in life. This experience is supposed to teach you something about yourself (as all experiences do). Learn it. Helping a friend a few times, when really needed, or to launch their career is one thing, someone who calls you every week for ideas for their business could be using you as their crutch.

If you have altruistic feelings towards this friend, then give all you want/can and don't think twice about it. When your motives are honorable, good things come to pass for you regardless of whose making money.

Sounds wise to me. And glad you're being very blessed this year. Support the arts!! Especially when it's a friend's art. It's nice when giving works out for both people ultimately though -- the giver & receiver - makes the world seem like a better place. Helping others when it's inconvenient produces good Karma especially.... oh who really knows.

Re: Confessions

somehaow, your friend thanks you. Anyways, go there for vacations, stay in his place, drink his beers and of course, free drinks at his work. It´s fair enough

How does recommending some music make you a producer? Let alone a free one. What are you producing?

Re: Confessions

I could be wrong, I don't know the dj industry, but if I were a DJ and someone sent me the right tracks to compose a live mix with - in some form - that person would be helping me produce "my" sound, right? Of course Juan isn't actually responsible for creating the music... then again maybe I read Juan's post wrong, in which case that's that .

Re: Confessions

Funny because we spoke today like we speak everyday and i told him "dude when you get rich Djing, you should mention me like part of your staff" ..

He told me "Juan, you are a big part of my new life and i love you"... Following all the stuff about next BPM and how he knows promoters for big gigs and all... Free pass for everyone included lol :vuvu:

Fucking nice dude lol ... thats why i love him afterall

I thought you said you were a manager, isn't a manager supposed to know the industry? Are you an international conglomerate.

Re: Confessions

I drew a robot once and then a year later Star Wars came out! They took that from me, they stole my idea and used it as their own.

Re: Confessions

When I was a little kid, I regularly saw an angel in my room no one else could see. He was there sometimes when I went to bed, and sometimes when I woke up in the middle of the night, he'd be the first thing I saw. I didn't like seeing him and always tried to close all the doors so he couldn't get in. He glistened. I had no idea he was an angel, I didn't know who/what he was. It took decades before I could sleep with any door open around me.

I acted as a manager to a singer/songwriter... Pretty sure the Dj'ing biz is not the same thing. My friend asked me to be his manager knowing I had no experience, so it's not as if I went to "Manager School."

 we used to take these in Highschool before a late night out at the clubs on the outskirts of Orange County. Those were good times, these and mini-thins. Both not good though.
