Re: dark, bass heavy, moody and atmospheric

Hmmm I don't really think of Saiz as dark but I suppose that's the difficulty with the subjectiveness of music.

Xhin does some really dark and heavy techno. Also check out the CLR podcasts, some of the guest mixes are dark and heavy too. Xhin has a guest mix. I think people like Tommy Four Seven or Terence Fixner as well.

Ben Klock's One was pretty dark if I remember correctly. CHLLNGR is moody and atmospheric. There's another guy that does almost classical style music in a very dark atmospheric style but for the life of me can't remember his name.

Re: dark, bass heavy, moody and atmospheric

The others that came to mind were Digweed's GU LA disc 2. Sasha - Involver and of course Airdrawndagger. Anything along the ADD lines is great. And I agree Feather, Henry Saiz I don't consider "dark" but it's bass heavy, atmospheric and moody. and just fucking great too

Moonlight Wolf definitely has that low proggy undercurrent come through beneath the melody:

.... of course, and Wolf music is great :

First thing that came to mind was Surgeon - Fabric 53 at Discogs but if you consider Involver and ADD as dark and bass heavy then, well, you are probably looking for a completely different sound. ;)

Re: dark, bass heavy, moody and atmospheric

What he said  I don't find Involver and ADD dark at all but agree with GU:LA.

Re: dark, bass heavy, moody and atmospheric

dark, bass heavy, moody and atmospheric - of course opinions will vary. Perhaps I should have pointed out that this friend of mine is new to electronic music. Compared to Top 100 radio music, ADD is dark, bass heavy, moody and atmospheric imho. I've sent him many recommendations, it's been interesting to see what sticks. So far, involver1 and 3 have been winners. Whether or not that they fit the description, I certainly don't mind  .

Did you recommend Northern Exposure? Every person new to this needs it.
