Re: i am starting to like rock music
Tunnel vision is the worst, all music is all good.
You will find adversary in any form of music saying the other genres are "retarted", but you gotta do what you gotta do and yeah that track Mr. Brightside is great.
The new NIN album is very good too but um yeah, it is good...
Re: i am starting to like rock music

Can't wait for that. NIN is amazing.
Re: i am starting to like rock music
i do listen to a lot of different varieties of music... most of my favorite cds of all time are non-electronic (e.g. stone roses, pink floyd)
but i primarily listen to electronic music, probably about 90% of what i listen to

I've always loved good ole seattle grunge as well as good loungy shit from the likes of Jamiroquai. My fav bands were good before they either split up/made bad music today....some of my favs are 311, bush, rage against the machine, alice in chains, beck, soul coughing, sound garden, etc...as well as classic rock like, floyd, steely dan, good CCR (Run through the jungle, etc...) Rush, The Cars, Peter Gabriel, man so many bands i love and that influence me, i could go on forever.

Yeah, I just wanted to say the same, there's nothing wrong with rock music. That's what I first started listening to. I mean, look how many crazy bands are in rock music: Radiohead, Floyd, Hendrix, Beatles, I can keep goin, but you get the point.

As for Rock music, Chem mate you haven't got the hair for it, but i do like Franz Ferdinand, if that is rock, oh and the killers and Kasabian.
Re: i am starting to like rock music
I?ve loved rock music before I loved Dance music, that?s for sure, and I stilll listen to a lot of it.
I remember showing a few records by Tool to a DJ friend who spins progressive/tribal, a few months ago, and he fucking loved it. Maybe because in a way they?re the "metal" counterpart of progressive house : long tracks, complex structures, intelligence, weird and out there sounds...
Besides Tool (my favourites), I stilll listen to Faith No More records all the time, how amazing and influential was "Angel Dust"? What a shock it was for me when they did a cover of Pump Up The Jam in the beginning of the 90?s.
Besides these, I love stuff like NIN, Collide, Deftones, Skindred, Chevelle, and this weird recent band called Atomship.
And finally, I?ll plug an awesome Portuguese band : Blasted Mechanism - www.blastedmechanism.com
Re: i am starting to like rock music
i listen to 100 % edm...but there was a period when i was married and wasn't really allowed to go out *whooped * and i lost touch with edm. i started listening to rock.. there are a few bands that i like and that i'll listen to at work.. alice in chains, korn, tool, pearl jam (first album only) soundgarden (until superun known), stp, sepultura, pantera...some of these i cant play at work obviously
Re: i am starting to like rock music
There is so much good music out there... To limit yourself to style of music, you would only be hurting yourself in the long run.

Re: i am starting to like rock music
I've been checking out that new Green Day album the past couple days. Gotta say I really enjoy it.
Re: i am starting to like rock music
Chem, it is alright to listen to different styles of music. Music is music not matter what it is. I listen to rock music every once in a while. But I mostly listen to dance most of the time.
Re: i am starting to like rock music
i like the dandy warhols... some songs are good
dj music is my favorite, but i like pink floyd as well, and jamiroquai is awesome

Re: i am starting to like rock music
Dude, you wanna talk about "rock" music, I'm your man. Actually I listen to more straight-up metal than what you would call "rock." To tell you the truth, it's what I listen to most. I love dance music and always will, but metal has always been my first love. I go to at least 1 concert a week, live is where it's at.
In the past month I've gone to Atlanta to see All That Remains, Shadows Fall, Lamb of God and Slipknot (not really a fan, but they are alright), to Orlando by myself (I live about 2 hours away) to see Behemoth, The Black Dahlia Murder and Nile and just last week went to Motley Crue. At the same time I am competely broken up that I had to miss Danny Howells at the House of Blues last Sunday and went all the hell to Miami for the conference.
I've never understood people who can listen to one kind of music all the time. Seems like a waste. I love rocking out to Slayer, then firing up a 2 hour live mix immediately after. Makes me understand that music is music, how you interpret it is the only difference.

yeah Chem, I had a wicked time, didn't really know what to expect, people saying how he keeps talking and stuff, but all in all it was a real show, he had dancers and these funny flashlights. wicked moment when he dropped the acappella of Evolution - Walking on Fire over the instrumental of Shapeshifters - Lola's theme....now i know what you're thinking... but it was amazing...Jayne Hannah's vocal reverberated through the main room, it was quite moving

Re: i am starting to like rock music
It's easy to like almost any music- just put it on when you're doing something you like all the time.
A great deal of music appreciation is associative, so if you always associate a certain music with certain feelings because of where or when your were listening, you're bound to begin to feel those feelings again even when your listening to that music out of that environment.
So if you find yourself limited musically, grab some shit that you don't like that some of your friends do like, and put it on when your having a good time...works like a charm.
btw- it works the same way in the other direction...you can lose feelings for music by negative association, too! So when something bad happens, stop the music.
