Should MS shut down for good?

Currently, there are 40 active users.

2 of them are the owner and the coder 1 is the global mod who's now more interested in the trackers he admins, and rightly so 1 is the former resident DJ with nothing to reside at anymore 5-6 are the old-timers with 10'000+ posts, who are 100% aware that it's all been gone for years 1 is me ( a damaged human and an Internet pornorlord by his trade) 2 are Evil/Bloodstream 1 is Did-e 1 is Gus

15 beautifully useless contributors.

That equals to 25 "normal" users.

#1675037Post 3 of 47

Re: Should MS shut down for good?

In the valid users/contributors/good MSers.

I do, in the last 24 hours alone I've been mentioning it a lot.

Re: Should MS shut down for good?

perhaps people are realizing that internet is not good for them and want to socialize outside their little room

Re: Should MS shut down for good?

YES! That's exactly what's happening in 2013, with social networking, smartphones and wi-fi. What are you, a seer?

The proplem is in the content, MAYBE people are tired of MS and get sets faster from SC, RSS feeds and torrents.

Plus, a thriving community disbanding is always sad.

#1675059Post 13 of 47

Re: Should MS shut down for good?

No, simple as.

Come on let's not get into another 'good ol' days' thread.

This topic has been done to death was always a big can of worms. You get all sorts of people coming out of the wood works bemoaning now vs the past. And didn't that already alienate some folks?

Didn't we just celebrate 10 years?

MS can't remain the same as it always was with so many things happening on the internet, but it still serves a purpose as a gathering place for all of us. Just think about the MSers who reached out to you when you were feeling shit.

Do I want to have an MS group on Facebook or Twitter? We could, but no. I like this place as a forum.

This.

I've seen this with several websites where the dynamic is going to change and evolve. That means that the board is also going to go through some highs and lows from a subjective standpoint. There still seems to be a fair amount of traffic going on, but I do admit it's not like it used to be. But then again, how boring would it be if the board remained the same and stagnated? Wouldn't that spell out the death of the board as well?

Re: Should MS shut down for good?

MS could also be turned into a sperm bank, but a few of you wouldn't understand the instructions.

Re: Should MS shut down for good?

MS doesn't need this kind of threads. If you don't enjoy it... you know what to do.

It would be funny merged with sbando's site :D

#1675078Post 21 of 47

Re: Should MS shut down for good?

The site is dead. Maybe THE ACTIVE CONTRIBUTORS don't deserve these threads.

True. Goodbye.

Re: Should MS shut down for good?

I've been around since at least, say 2002, (which is late compared to some here!) and though I visit less often, whenever I need to brighten my day (like after watching an especially depressing episode of House of Cards)...here I am. Please don't go. Adapt. Diggers would want us to ;)

Re: Should MS shut down for good?

I think there's a lot of great music being posted on this site, and I'm still finding out a lot of new artists through this site. A lot of the stuff that's posted is also on souncloud, mixcloud, etc. but it seems like it would be too much of a trouble to find those links without having someone tell you about it. Maybe for the older members who already know most of the big and up and coming artists out there and their soundclouds, etc, they don't need this site, but it's nice for those of us who newer and are still looking to find new music.

Where is this thread going?

#1675115Post 28 of 47

Re: Should MS shut down for good?

Waking people up.

Instead a few gentlemen who can't understand irony or provocations, thought it was an "attack to MS".

I am part of MS as:

Moderator Regular donator when this was the rule First contributor to Adam's Artist Databatase. Days over days of work, lost sight doing it (Just to get Jody in his own section, UNTHANKED) Poster of countless personal rips, not links. Ripper of the files for the current Transitions (never credited, never thanked). After having spent 500 eu just to give MS an official SC YOU REFUSED to use it anyway, I was still about to recreate the Kiss 100 collection (the one people once prayed to get access to) with Souncloud preview for each file and whole pagkage to D/L from mediafire . Never tired of sharing every Frisky set in private (personal paid account), retail CDs, my beatport purchases. I even sent people valuable records from my collection as a gift. Sent people packages with rips of my records, never asking for a dime.

Too tard to get it, know-it-alls who feels half-offended if you share your insight. Noobies calling me names, with no mod action.

It's all gone now.

Delete my account and posts or the board will look defaced by kiddie hackers soon.

2 things

 1. Give me what you're on please
 2. I have seriously been considering the shutdown.

Happy?

:shock::(

seriously?

Closed down?!!

I can appreciate things have change and slowed down here recently, and I am completely up for some discussion about how to move things forward. a blog, a facebook page, twitter, i dont know. suggestions?

We all appreciate the hard work and effort put in behind the scenes (by numerous unthanked people).

so instead of arguing amongst ourselves, what can we do?

 1. To reduce the time/money impact on many people that contribute so much with so little thanks.
 2. To make MS sociable again, more dynamic and easily accessible in a world where the forum is maybe no longer relevant?

Re: Should MS shut down for good?

Come on guys , whats going on here ? we are not only a place that share music. We are a community or at least that we pretend to be.

Re: Should MS shut down for good?

Ok let's say MS does shut down. WTF are we gonna go?!

#1675136Post 35 of 47

Re: Should MS shut down for good?

although i do understand, i would be bummed. life happens and all "grow up" I guess. i have taken on more responsibility at work over the last 10 years hence limiting my activity here. but recently i have gotten back into music again and this is the 1st place i look for new music.

and it NEVER disappoints. again i would be sad it you close down. but know that just because people aren't rambling on about useless topics all day anymore, doesn't equate to a dead site.

long live MS.

Re: Should MS shut down for good?

^I'm now in a similar boat. Life has gotten busier, but in a way that's what makes the time I do have to come here more special. :( Hope it doesn't get shutdown big K. There are too many smart members to let that happen, i know there is a solution.

#1675140Post 37 of 47

Re: Should MS shut down for good?

So not happy this thread was started in the first place. I would be super sad to see MS shut down.

#1675142Post 38 of 47

Re: Should MS shut down for good?

If the site does go down, we can all be proud that we went down together and not being total assholes, like some message boards.

#1675143Post 39 of 47

Re: Should MS shut down for good?

I love this site still...sure I'm not posting a lot in threads but still interested in the various music discussions including one of the latest about Sasha's Involver3.

:( - would be sad if yet another music messageboard disappeared.

#1675146Post 40 of 47

Re: Should MS shut down for good?

yes, there is still quite a bit of quality threads espcially when it comes to new releases....Digweeds London and Saiz last balance had mulitple mulitple pages of interesting reviews. Dont know of another place where u get that.
