I think Steve lawler and John Lisle have filled the same positiion in the prog market, albeit in different eras and different categories, tribal and breaks respectively. Does anyone else see a striking similarity in the lack of drive behind their music, the lack of dance floor freindlyness?

Steve Lawler - John Lisle
Re: Steve Lawler - John Lisle
How can you say they have filled the same postion playing different styles.
Jon Lisle IMO is a top DJ. Steve Lawler has also provided a driving soundtrack to my ears when required.
I have seen no evidence of lack of effort or drive from either DJ, Jon last time I saw him provided on of the best sets of the night, and this was @Bedrock where the likes of Digweed and guests were spinning.
Also what is this ongoing campain of dislike against Jon?

I just don?t get it either...He just made one of the best mixed CD?s I?ve heard in a long time, he repeatedly has great reviews for his shows, has the privilege of being one of the top artists at Bedrock, and from what I?ve seen around here, is also a nice guy.
Besides, I don?t have a clue what the fuck the thread starter is trying to say...he?s saying they?re the same, byt after all they?re totally different.
Re: Steve Lawler - John Lisle
Having seen lawler live on numerous occasions last year i can say he doesnt appear to lack drive or dance floor friendlyness to me??????? Ask the crowds on the terrace @ space ibiza last year !!!!!!!!

yeah, this shit is worthless although Steve was one of my top guys around when his NuBreed came out and then, well, the rest is not very stimulating aural history.....

Agreed. Manboy if you don't a certain dj please keep it to yourself instead of starting several threads on how much you dislike jon Lisle and Steve Lawler. I have a simple solution for you. Don't listen to them then. :DumbAss:

Re: Steve Lawler - John Lisle
I closed your previous thread http://www.mercurynation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=306393&highlight=#306393 already..did you really think this one is more mature? If Lisle or Lawler are not you cup of tea (anymore I guess, I can smell some bitterness in your postings LOL) why don't you just listen to other DJ's and get over it? We have a lot of DJ`s and Producers aboard and I bet you wouldn't like to read multiple threads (not comments in a thread about somebody but threads just started to polarize) about your music beeing dull or how much you suck as well so show a bit more respect for DJ's changing their styles over the years in Future please.
Re: Steve Lawler - John Lisle
What are you talking about??? Lisle put out one of the best compilations I have ever heard, some guys here even compare it to NE, and have you heard his kiss mix??? Its one great track after another.
Steve Lawller..I don't even want to get started with him.
If you don't like them don't listen to them, just go and buy your self a gigi d'agostino or scooter cd I bet you'll love them
Re: Steve Lawler - John Lisle
another vote for lamest thread ever
lisle is great
not a lawler fan...but lisle???
come the f*** on
Re: Steve Lawler - John Lisle
Don't you people understand that this is a classic case of manboy's mother finally pulling her tit out of his mouth and now he has to stir up hornets' nests in order to get some attention and feel important. Why don't we all just do what we're suggesting to him and stop reading his posts. And for god's sake stop replying to them. Eventually the virus will go away.
Re: Steve Lawler - John Lisle
just dont you like oakenfold
lisle's work is brilliant. he is at the head of the game, just maybe not your seen, the shit is very deep and he has some mind blowing ideas, none of the tracks on the CD are in thier actual original form. i put him up on the top 10 in my book in terms of mixing abiltiy, nose for talent, and drive to give a ripping show everytime. and he is a great person. stop just trashing every DJ you see around here. :x

Re: Steve Lawler - John Lisle
well lawler back in the day (2000-2002) was really fuckin good, really loved him back then. now hes just a bore to me. as for lisle, id say his mixes he produces are really good dunno about live mixes. as for something non-boring, stick some howells. every mix ive listened to of his is far from boring. wooooo howells#1 thats my 2 cents.

Il ike Steve Lawlers musci is kinking.I like Light Out 2
Re: Steve Lawler - John Lisle
I wasn't trying to engender a campaign of hate I just think that both guys have become a little dull recently. Lisle's set in Argentina left me thinking, people everywhere are touting this as a valuable new direction for progressive music? The same feeling I had when listening to sashas Air Drawn Dagger, the very same feeling I was had when listening to Lisle's Kiss FM set. I just find it amusing that if someone offers a view contrary to the status quo that the knives come out before any actual consideration is entered into. Viva Danny Howells, Anthony Pappa, Hambersham, Jacob Todd, Nathan Fake, Jono Fernandez, Stel, Luke Chable and above all for his tirelessly "up for it sets" the one, the only Nick Warren.

maybe manboy is luke fair in disguise, pissed that ol' lisley is getting the all the attention.
Luke, its ok, we can help you. Theres nothing to be ashamed of.
Re: Steve Lawler - John Lisle
Fuck yourself manboy!
Jon Lisle's Kiss FM set is awesome.
Re: Steve Lawler - John Lisle
Guys, calm the fuck down.
Manboy: start listening to what you like instead of whining and complaining about what you don't like: we have a politics forum for that. Nobody's waiting for a constant flow of negative input here.
Re: Steve Lawler - John Lisle
First off you are a fucking boor, you are now wasting my time and everyones time with this nonsense. I personally won't tolerate it. Anymore of this shit and I'm just deleting it. Instigating the community like this is not amusing nor is it original. Your act is stale. If you want to mix things up in here you'd better step up the creativity.
I just find it amusing that if someone offers a view contrary to the status quo that the knives come out before any actual consideration is entered into.
So weak. How are you even amused?
Re: Steve Lawler - John Lisle
Very easily it would seem by the tone of your post.
