Maybe part of the conditions to granting him bail was no access to his blades, then he'd be less of a flight risk... err, I mean less of a run away risk.

He got bail because almost all the evidence is circumstantial - there's no witness to confirm what happened, but the case looks really, really bad. The judge that granted bail made it pretty clear that just because Pistorius got bail is not any kind of indication that he's innocent, and that the defense is going to have a pretty hard time showing that this was a bunch of fucked up coincidences given his history and the stuff that was found all over the house.

NPR has been playing this every...single...day, all the time. I want my morning international news on there, not this stuff 24/7. The same crap happened with OJ. 24/7 coverage of the trial. We even watched that during math while doing inclass work when I was in 6th grade.

The initial policeman who took the call made some HUGE cockups with the prelim investigations - didn't check all the phones to see if he had called an ambulance, didn't wear booties to preserve the crime scene, etc and is up on 8 counts of attempted murder - so that was very key in OP getting bail
