We are currently testing a new high quality but low bandwidth streaming technology called aacPlus. Some of you might already be familiar with it. If you are not, you really won't believe your ears when you listen to it. ;) i remember some people on this board weren't happy with the windows media stream we already have... this should make you happy! 8)

you need Winamp 5.04 or greater to be able to tune in. Those of you who are on a Mac can tune in using VLC.

here's the link: http://www.dinamo.fm/dinamo_aacplus.pls

let me know what you think as we are still testing it.

cheers.

Thanks for the heads-up Mr. Muzo. I will definitely be checking this out even though I'm only on Winamp 2.90. Guess I'll go d/l a newer version and put it on the lappie.

That sounds great! Is it resource heavy? How many concurrent listners max so far? What does it run on, *nix or windows?

it's not resource heavy at all. you need a special aacPlus encoder. we have a fair amount of sound processing before the encoder though which makes a whole lot of difference when it comes to sound quality. We had 11 concurrent users so far, but this is just a test. i'm guessing we will max it when we open it to the public, as our other windows media stream regularly maxes out. ;)

oh, and... it runs on windows. but u can use icecast an icecast server as well.

thanks for all the cool feedback. carl cox global is on now...
