Should be another classic sasha mix. But when is diggers going to do another essential mix. That would be nice to hear a 2 hr diggers mix. Hopefully sometime soon.

Don't the BBC use their studio in Media Vale as an intimate gig space? If so this could be a great event to blag tickets for!

Re: Sasha live from Maida Vale 22/05/05

Bit confused by this, it says "live from Maida Vale" but Sasha will be at Fabric while the ess. mix is aired, unless (and heres hoping) that it's a typo and they mean "live from Fabric" wouldn't that be nice?

I'D even be interested in hearing a live @ fabric mix from him.

Re: Sasha live from Maida Vale 22/05/05

i haven't heard a sasha mix in quite a long time come to think of it.. doesn't seem like there is the constant supply of sasha sets floating around as there were in recent years

Re: Sasha live from Maida Vale 22/05/05

maida vale? Thats my hood! It was actually "sasha - live in frisky's flat" but we had a licensing problem, so they decided to go with "Maida Vale" instead....

yep. in my dreams.

Re: Sasha live from Maida Vale 22/05/05

this is a bit strange. i suppose if the ess. mix is 1-3 he could play in maida vale (bbc studio?) and shoot across to farringdon to fabric. he doesnt usually come on til late anyway. he could still play 4 hours or more, seeing as when he or john play they tend to stay on til whenever they like anyway.

still doesnt make much sense though. whatever it is it should be good.

Re: Sasha live from Maida Vale 22/05/05

^^^can't see it myself, he usually kicks off at Fabric at 2 - 2.30, if he did the EM live from Maida Vale he aint going to get to Fabric before 3.30 at best, then hes got to set up..... hmmm, i'm still hoping it's a typo and they mean "live from Fabric" :P

Re: Sasha live from Maida Vale 22/05/05

live from fabric would be even better, but maybe it wont be "live" when it airs, just recorded live and broadcast later?

Sasha live from Fabric is not gonna happen.

#397091Post 23 of 44

Re: Sasha live from Maida Vale 22/05/05

as already said it will be a studio mix recorded in the bbc building and then aired on radio whilst he is playing fabric. nothing more, nothing less.

looking forward to hear a proper ableton mix when he has time to plan it out rather than playing in a club situation.

Re: Sasha live from Maida Vale 22/05/05

This is being rebroadcast on BBC Radio 1 tonight at 1am BST. Any chance somebody could record it please as WAV/FLAC/320kbps? :) https://www.facebook.com/sasha/photos/a.375908581918/10157770398946919/?type=3

Re: Sasha live from Maida Vale 22/05/05

Maybe there is a flac version of the original broadcasting at The Mixing Bowl, I'll check later.

Edit: Nope, no luck.

I doubt that there ever was a FLAC file to start with. A few years ago I did wonder if it would be better recording it through Sky Tv instead of from the Radio 1 website, but I could never be asked to find out. Radio 1 is broadcast on Sky.

Re: Sasha live from Maida Vale 22/05/05

there is a tong-less version but it is 192 mp3 as well.

#1797059Post 34 of 44

Re: Sasha live from Maida Vale 22/05/05

I'm afraid that's the only version available. Despite what people think of the Maven era nowadays, I liked the mix.

#1797086Post 35 of 44

Re: Sasha live from Maida Vale 22/05/05

My version is basically the broadcast as-is from Radio 1 on 31 May 2020 (if you combine the ISO BMFF media segments). Whether it sounds better, I've no idea.

It looks like this if I open it with the Spek tool:

If Radio 1's archives are coming from their original Digital Audio Broadcast (DAB) I've no idea... Keep in mind that in 2005, DAB was basically just MP2 audio codec, and DAB+ came later after 2007 which was based on HE-AAC v2 (AAC+). Don't expect much!

Like I wrote, I don't know if it sounds better, but I think this version is not available anywhere else except here: Cloud

That was just ripped from the Japanise bootleg. Someone tried to remove the voice overs using software.

Sky+HD receivers and Sky Q boxes have an optical audio output. I guess the quality would be then pure DAB+ HE-AAC v2 (AAC+) higher than a 320kbps MP3 (theoretically).

Re: Sasha live from Maida Vale 22/05/05

Thank you, mood! I've only had this at 192kbps so anything actually higher is a bonus! :D
