... that has never really listened to it before and they immediately fall in love. I shared Involver with my co-worker last week and he wants more this week... Such a good feeling going and digging up old gems and letting someone listen to them for the first time when you can just the see the enthusiasm on their face. 8)

Re: I Love It When You Introduce Somebody to EDM...

I was one of those people, growing up in the midwest (ohio) in the 80's mid 90's there really wasnt much of it around. It wasnt till I moved to florida in 99 when a coworker turned me on to edm.

acutally i busted out involver again recently, classic album, i really like northern exposure 2 east edition also....that may be one to share with him

Still love to share some good mixes with them  ... Perfect when they ask for some :)

Oh and Involver still sounds like music from the future 8)

I've suggested Northern Exposure to a million people during the years, nothing.

Re: I Love It When You Introduce Somebody to EDM...

I've introduced a couple of friends. I even took a friend to his first big night, and it was nothing less than moonpark 1: sasha and HC. He loves edm from that moment on... but he started to listen to tiesto and paul van dyk also...

Re: I Love It When You Introduce Somebody to EDM...

I have introduced to many of my friends, back in time, I think I was the first in my group that liked electronic music, but then, little by little, many of them joined the M.E. I feel good at some point, to share my tastes with them and like.

on the other hand, Involver and Northem exposure is a great great album to introduce someone for the first time.

Re: I Love It When You Introduce Somebody to EDM...

hah, chuck that's really ironic... the second album i gave him to listen to was northern exposure 2 east edition! great minds think alike.

another one that has really stood the test of time is Dave Seaman Capetown CD1. I think that would be a great recommendation also.

I've done the same with Involver specifically as well. I know at least 3 people who like it that weren't into EDM.

Specially with that Moby track. IT's definitely an accessible cd.

I think Cattaneo's South America Disk 2 works, too

While I do love 0 Degrees North the better (like everybody else), I can't really spot no difference in NE2, both sides are so great I want to holler. And it's been like that's for 10 years now. It's like asking Joey Tribbiani to choose between women and sandwiches. When Omid's remix of Gus Gus starts I'm like this:

And I think that nothing can better that. But when Positron starts playing, I'm

Re: I Love It When You Introduce Somebody to EDM...

[QUOTE=Rawrmune;1068253]Whats this unreleased version?! :O[/QUOTE]

The released version is programmed slightly different to the "original" unreleased version. This was due to GU not being able to clear some tracks with their respective labels.

The original version flows a lot better in my opinion - I don't really listen to the final version. Albeit there are only a few track differences.

  1. The Detroit Escalator Co. - Ghana (Black Buildings LP) [Peacefrog Records | PFG012LP]
  2. Christian Kleine - Crystal (Beyond Repair LP) [City Centre Offices | TOWERBLOCK 004 LP]
  3. Ulrich Schnauss - Nobody's Home (Far Away Trains Passing By LP) [City Centre Offices | TOWERBLOCK 005 LP]
  4. Boards of Canada - Happy Cycling (Peel Session EP) [Warp Records | WAP114]
  5. Fresh Moods - Shiny Cage (Love. Death. Angels LP) [Elektrolux | E 1101011]
  6. Substructure - Comfort Guide (Readers Waves Pt. 1) [Sumsonic | SS019]
  7. Yunx - Thinking About Your Next Move (The Interview EP) [Yunxrecordings | Y003X]
  8. Planet Funk - Tightrope Artist Tale (Non Zero Sumness LP) [Bustin' Loose Recordings | BL040]
  9. Avatar - Dub In Time [Global Underground Ltd. | GU024VIN]
  10. Substructure - Firewire [Unreleased]
  11. Atlas - Compass Error Compass Error (Tarrentella:Redanka Dubbed Version) [Rip Records | RIP 014]

Tracks 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 & 11 appeared on CD1 of the final mix.

Re: I Love It When You Introduce Somebody to EDM...

^I had no idea that existed..thank you!

This is going to be a risky statement, but it holds true in my experience..so..

Miguel Migs, Mark Farina, and Luke Fair seem to work best for my female friends. I've approached with Digweed.. no go, Hernan.. hit&miss, same for Sasha.

Also, I find it really hard to explain that if you see them live, its wayyy different than to just listen to in the car or at home. So "stage 2" is a live Mark Farina gig somewhere in the area, usually The Mighty in SF.. after that, done deal.. and I can start slowly introducing new stuff.

Re: I Love It When You Introduce Somebody to EDM...

a marvelous thing i twas for me. i've awaken a group awareness of my acquired tastes with whole cricles of freinds, but have only truly introduced EDM, potentially in its full breadth, to my brother and a distant friend. strait up remarkable shit; and something i legitimately savor... the fragile joy of reindroducing myself to EDM i tend to stoke quite often these days...

Re: I Love It When You Introduce Somebody to EDM...

I've enjoyed sharing mixes with about 10 people regularly on Facebook, probably 7 of them don't really listen to it ever. A couple while they are at work behind a computer I will send mixes to and they love how it helps not only pass the time but make work a bit more enjoyable.

FAO i!!ustrious, check-in brah, it's been too long.
