Starting at 35 minutes:

A population supernova Constant conflict fueled by the quick unsustainable depletion of resources And the global compromise On cultural and biological diversity.

As we cope with this massive change We face a set of new challenges; The amplified unpredictability of globalisation, changing climate, future demographics, and the complex problems of providing clean energy, food and water for all.

Our generation´s challenge is learning to live peacefully and sustainably in an extraordinarily crowded world. We realise that the CITY may be our only hope.

How to moderate the impact of contemporary culture on our habitats? How can cities shape the future society? How can we all take part in their conception and construction?

How to balance hedonism and idealism, merge ecology and economy, Fuse the best top-down leadership with bottom-up intelligence?

How to connect and combine bold ambition with humble quality, sensitive responsibility with new technology, common sense with elaborate skill, Complex diversity with enlightened clarity, big ideas with intelligent details, good questions with relevant answers?

Cities, governments and businesses that succeed in the future, will be those that give people greater power to shape the future of their individual lives and greater capacity to collaborate.

Individiual and collective activity People doing things together Near other people doing other things While building and modifying their surroundings Is the essence of urban process.

But how to ensure our designs Regulations and good intentions do not inhibit or extinguish it? Can we create smarter, faster, livelier and more diverse urban future for all?

A matrix of plots cut by a street grid remains the universal urban syntax. The plot restricts and consolidates edges, but liberates and the conditions within to be manipulated and re-iterated in the urban process.

Every room, building, neighbourhood or city Is live evidence of this urban metabolism – being built up, torn down, rebuilt, modified, again and again.

Boundaries for growth and high population densities enrich service diversity and support local, specific and specialised urban cultures. In creating urban quality, sensitive, flexible and intelligent processes are crucial.

These may operate in any scale or timeframe. Participation drives the personalisation of services, products, lifestyles, neighbourhoods and cities, all becoming platforms for self- actualisation.

My actions are to be seen, heard and felt In my everyday life, in my city, in OUR everyday life, in OUR city. Self-built and moulded to our needs and dreams.

Change is constant, yet it requires both patience and action. Present conditions are irreversible, but always temporary. Masterplans don’t work. The city is never complete. This house is not finished.

The track can be listened to at the 35 minute mark from this mix. I don't know if it's an actual track, or if it's a speech overlayed on a track.... although I sort of think it's the former because the track works so well.

Re: Well Said

We believe that as people living in the United States it is our responsibility to resist the injustices done by our government, in our names

Not in our name will you wage endless war there can be no more deaths no more transfusions of blood for oil

Not in our name will you invade countries bomb civilians, kill more children letting history take its course over the graves of the nameless

Not in our name will you erode the very freedoms you have claimed to fight for Not by our hands will we supply weapons and funding for the annihilation of families on foreign soil

Not by our mouths will we let fear silence us

Not by our hearts will we allow whole peoples or countries to be deemed evil

Not by our will and Not in our name

We pledge resistance

We pledge alliance with those who have come under attack for voicing opposition to the war or for their religion or ethnicity

We pledge to make common cause with the people of the world to bring about justice, freedom and peace

Another world is possible and we pledge to make it real.

(Pledge of Resistance, Saul Williams)

Re: Well Said

Immortal urban poetry:

Yo Rakim, what's up? Yo, I'm doing the knowledge, E., man I'm trying to get paid in full Well, check this out, since Norby Walters is our agency, right? True

Kara Lewis is our agent, word up Zakia and 4th and Broadway is our record company, indeed Okay, so who we rollin' with then? We rollin' with Rush Of Rushtown Management

Check this out, since we talking over This def beat right here that I put together I wanna hear some of them def rhymes, you know what I'm sayin'? And together, we can get paid in full

Thinkin' of a master plan 'Cuz ain't nuthin' but sweat inside my hand So I dig into my pocket, all my money is spent So I dig deeper but still comin' up with lint

So I start my mission, leave my residence Thinkin' how could I get some dead presidents I need money, I used to be a stick-up kid So I think of all the devious things I did

I used to roll up, this is a hold up, ain't nuthin' funny Stop smiling, be still, don't nuthin' move but the money But now I learned to earn 'cuz I'm righteous I feel great, so maybe I might just

Search for a nine to five, if I strive Then maybe I'll stay alive So I walk up the street whistlin' this Feelin' out of place 'cuz, man, do I miss

A pen and a paper, a stereo, a tape of Me and Eric B, and a nice big plate of Fish, which is my favorite dish But without no money it's still a wish

'Cuz I don't like to dream about gettin' paid So I dig into the books of the rhymes that I made So now to test to see if I got pull Hit the studio, 'cuz I'm paid in full

Rakim, check this out, yo You go to your girl house and I'll go to mine 'Cause my girl is definitely mad 'Cause it took us too long to do this album

Yo, I hear what you're saying So let's just pump the music up And count our money

Yo, well check this out, yo Eli Turn down the bass down And let the beat just keep on rockin'

And we outta here Yo, what happened to peace? Peace

Ishmael Reed, Skydiving

"It's a good way to live and A goodway to die" From a Frankenheimer video about Sky diving The hero telling why he like to The following noon he leaped But his parachute wasn't with him He spread out on the field like Scramble eggs

Life is not always Hi-lifing inside Archibald Motley's "Chicken Shack" You in your derby Your honey in her beret Styling before a small vintage Car

Like too many of us I'm a man who never had much Use for a real father And so when I'm heading For a crash No one will catch me But me No one but me

The year is only five days old Already a comet has glittered out Its glow sandbagged by The jealous sun Happens to the best of us Our brilliance falling off Like hair from Berkeley's roving Dogs

Even on a Rose Bowl day An otherwise joyous occasion A float veered into the crowd Somebody got bruised over the incident Like a love affair on Second Ave.

In these downhill days of a Hard-hearted decade Jetting through the world Our tails on fire You can't always count On things opening up for you Know when to let go Learn how to fall.

I dreamed I saw Joe Hill last night, Alive as you or me Says I, "But Joe, you're ten years dead," "I never died," says he. "I never died," says he.

"In Salt Lake, Joe," says I to him, Him standing by my bed, "They framed you on a murder charge," Says Joe, "But I ain't dead," Says Joe, "But I ain't dead."

"The copper bosses killed you, Joe, They shot you, Joe," says I. "Takes more than guns to kill a man," Says Joe, "I didn't die," Says Joe, "I didn't die."

And standing there as big as life And smiling with his eyes Says Joe, "What they forgot to kill Went on to organize, Went on to organize."

"Joe Hill ain't dead," he says to me, "Joe Hill ain't never died. Where working men are out on strike Joe Hill is at their side, Joe Hill is at their side."

From San Diego up to Maine, In every mine and mill - Where working men defend their rights It's there you'll find Joe Hill. It's there you'll find Joe Hill.

I dreamed I saw Joe Hill last night, Alive as you or me Says I, "But Joe, you're ten years dead", "I never died," says he. "I never died," says he.

Re: Well Said

It's just you and me, by the look of it.

Saul Williams is of course also fondly remembered for this:

Whereas, break beats have been the missing link connecting the diasporic community to its drum woven past. Whereas the quantized drum has allowed the whirling mathematicians to calculate the ever changing distance between rock and stardom. Whereas the velocity of the spinning vinyl, cross-faded, spun backwards, and re-released at the same given moment of recorded history, yet at a different moment in time's continuum has allowed history to catch up with the present.

We do hereby declare reality unkempt by the changing standards of dialogue. Statements, such as, "keep it real", especially when punctuating or anticipating modes of ultra-violence inflicted psychologically or physically or depicting an unchanging rule of events will hence forth be seen as retro-active and not representative of the individually determined is.

Furthermore, as determined by the collective consciousness of this state of being and the lessened distance between thought patterns and their secular manifestations, the role of men as listening receptacles is to be increased by a number no less than 70 percent of the current enlisted as vocal aggressors.

Motherfuckers better realize, now is the time to self-actualize. We have found evidence that hip hops standard 85 rpm when increased by a number as least half the rate of it's standard or decreased at ¾ of it's speed may be a determining factor in heightening consciousness.

Studies show that when a given norm is changed in the face of the unchanging, the remaining contradictions will parallel the truth. Equate rhyme with reason, sun with season!

Our cyclical relationship to phenomenon has encouraged scholars to erase the centers of periods, thus symbolizing the non-linear character of cause and effect reject mediocrity!

Your current frequencies of understanding outweigh that which as been given for you to understand.

The current standard is the equivalent of an adolescent restricted to the diet of an infant.

The rapidly changing body would acquire dysfunctional and deformative symptoms and could not properly mature on a diet of apple sauce and crushed pears light years are interchangeable with years of living in darkness.

The role of darkness is not to be seen as, or equated with, ignorance, but with the unknown, and the mysteries of the unseen.

Thus, in the name of: Robeson, God's son, Hurston, Ahkenaton, Hathsheput, Blackfoot, Helen, Lennon, Khalo, Kali, The Three Marias, Tara, Lilithe, Lourde, Whitman, Baldwin, Ginsberg, Kaufman, Lumumba, Ghandi, Gibran, Shabazz, Siddhartha, Medusa, Guevara, Guardsieff, Rand, Wright, Banneker, Tubman, Hamer, Holiday, Davis, Coltrane, Morrison, Joplin, Dubois, Clarke, Shakespeare, Rachmninov, Ellington, Carter, Gaye, Hathoway, Hendrix, Kutl, Dickerson, Ripperton, Mary, Isis, Theresa, Plath, Rumi, Fellini, Michaux, Nostradamus, Nefertiti, La Rock, Shiva, Ganesha, Yemaja, Oshun, Obatala, Ogun, Kennedy, King, four little girls, Hiroshima, Nagasaki, Keller, Biko, Perone, Marley, Cosby, Shakur, Those Still Aflamed, and the countless unnamed!

We claim the present as the pre-sent, as the hereafter. We are unraveling our navels so that we may ingest the sun. We are not afraid of the darkness, we trust that the moon shall guide us. We are determining the future at this very moment. We now know that the heart is the philosophers' stone. Our music is our alchemy!

We stand as the manifested equivalent of 3 buckets of water and a hand full of minerals, thus realizing that those very buckets turned upside down supply the percussion factor of forever. If you must count to keep the beat then count. Find you mantra and awaken your subconscious. Curve you circles counterclockwise. Use your cipher to decipher, Coded Language, man made laws. Climb waterfalls and trees, commune with nature, snakes and bees. Let your children name themselves and claim themselves as the new day for today we are determined to be the channelers of these changing frequencies into songs, paintings, writings, dance, drama, photography, carpentry, crafts, love, and love.

We enlist every instrument: Acoustic, electronic. Every so-called race, gender, and sexual preference. Every per-son as beings of sound to acknowledge their responsibility to uplift the consciousness of the entire f***ing World.
