What's everyone's dream job? If you could wake-up tomorrow and have any career you wanted, what would it be. Be as vague or as detailed as possible.

I would own/operate a chain of international concert venues that the best bands/dj's in the world lined up to perform at as my main source of income. I am currently pursuing my dreams of being an actor.

Completely a dream... but own a small design firm, primarily doing work for music labels (covers, promos) + freelance work

Re: Dream Job

I love what I do, I just hate the company i work for. I'd love to be able to do my job at a more stimulating company and work my way up to a senior position.

I would like to own a small venue somewere on a unknown beach in the middle of nowere with the best balearic and open minded vibe in the world. A venue like Sa Trinxa or DC10, and I would like to combine it with art like a small Burning Man :).

Re: Dream Job

Journey man professional goalkeeper with a decent playing career in Spain, Italy, Croatia, Serbia, Japan, Brazil & Argentina.

No international caps thanks.

Producer/dj/label boss would be great, but I think its not as flash as we might think far too much uncertainty in the set up stage...I'd prefer the small venue idea.

Would hate to diminish your dreams, but I would think that this job would get nightmarish after the initial perks wore off.
isn't "Dream Job" an oxymoron?
I don't think so. When you were a kid you probably daydreamed about what "you would be when you grew up." I think it's important to carry that kind of imagination and thinking into your adult life.

But more to your point, if you want to be a professional vacationer then that works for me .

Re: Dream Job

well, my reason for stating it is, as Confucius said "Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.” So it won't become a "job" in the true sense of the word.

#1642552Post 15 of 69

Re: Dream Job

^That wouldn't fit in the thread title  ....and I'm not even sure that is even true. I think there are elements of "work" involved even with jobs you enjoy. Time is time, and I think it's human nature to want to spend time doing something different than what you currently are doing, even if it's something you love. Eventually it will have elements of being work.

work is not = job, at least the way I see it. Now if you said dream way to make money for the thread title, it'd fit in with my argument.

What a wonderful movie, a masterpiece.

Great scene too: "Oh, what a lonely boy oh what a lonely boy, oh what a lonely boy".

I agree with Kamal, though. Work is work. I used to work as a bell-boy, I hated it. They promoted me to concierge, god I hated it. I started making money with the Internet, left my job like a buzz. A year later I was already complaining and later I started hating it.

Re: Dream Job

Well let's all get together and open a club in Hawaii, we have [ms] open to publicize it and no shortage of members on here who would be willing to travel to Hawaii on holiday once every few years, cram that into a rotation and we could easily wind up with a healthy collection of "special" DJ nights. Fly in chefs from India / Turkey for a flavored kebab outdoor restaurant with a bar part inside part outside and a dance floor behind closed doors.

I see a Utopian end of this hectic schedule

With the incredibly low lease rates right now you could easily open up a club with a handful of friends. That's a cool idea man, so long as it was run like a business and not a place for you and your associates to party  (rule number 1 im afraid to say)
