Okay, I?m not sure if I should have made a new topic out of this or if I should have posted on the WMC thread below, but here it goes :

Can any of you trainspotters tell me what were, in your opinon, the stand-out tracks of this year?s WMC? What caught your attention, what made you lose it on the dancefloor? Who played them?

WMC is always a great showcase, especially for those summer hits that everyone will be hammering in Ibiza.

C?mon, throw me some bones!

Re: Tracks of this year?s WMC

The tracks I heard most frequently were:

James Zabiela - Robot Phobia Stef & 16 Bit Lolitas - Kiss n Tell Good Uncle - Overclockers Peace Division - What is That Sound (King Unique Remix & Edit)

There were a couple of other tunes that I recall (which I assure you is very hard to do at this point) but I don't remember the names of them.

Re: Tracks of this year?s WMC

Nic Fanciulli dropped this nasty track thurday night at the lmr party at Spin. Dont know what it is but it has a nasty vocal throughout. Goes like this:

"My washing machine isn't working, who fucked my washing machine?"

My friends and I spent all weekend talking about it, still couldn't figure out what the name of it was or who it is though.

Re: Tracks of this year?s WMC

That washing machine track probably stuck in my head the most. Someone ID'd it on the GU board. Both times I saw Digweed he played the new Chemical Brothers track "Believe". A friend told me he heard Luke Fair drop it as well.

Re: Tracks of this year?s WMC

I believe it is: Sikk - Washing Machine if I'm not mistaken.

Re: Tracks of this year?s WMC

The new Chemical Brothers track "Believe" was the one for me. Out of nowhere Luke was told that he had 10min left in his set at Space the first night so he threw it on so we could here it on a big system. Holy Shit! Diggers dropped it late on Tuesday and Burridge again at Bed on Saturday. Definitely the most massive track I heard all week.

That one is pretty old, Lawrer already played it in his Global DJ Broadcast (29-09-03).
Gods Uncle - Overlookers :digweed:
It's 'Overclockers' and the artist has been labeled as:

Good Uncle God's Uncle Kool Uncle King Unique

I believe the correct one is Good Uncle though.

I agree. I was there on Tuesday when Diggers dropped it and on Saturday when he dropped it again right after Sasha dropped my other favorite WMC track the Killers - Mr Brightside (Thin White Duke Remix). I heard DD and Sander ended thier sets with it. Diggers also dropped some remix of Felix Da Housecats - Silver Screen Shower Scene that was just nasty.

#394698Post 27 of 49

Re: Tracks of this year?s WMC

The Silver Screen Track could have been the Thin WHite Duke remix. He played that on one of his transitions record label special. Massive track.

#395062Post 28 of 49

Re: Tracks of this year?s WMC

dont think it was the thin white duke remix. Its pretty old, I bought it a few years ago. Jaques le Cont is the bomb when it comes to remixes though, the killers one you mentioned is awesome.

Re: Tracks of this year?s WMC

john spring "strange" rereleased i believe on CrossTown Rebels.

heard this about 6 times - dirtyness for the afters, not a peak timer though.

also, the holden remix of "Safari"...that's straight up nasty.

The first time around, like a year and a half ago, John Spring - Strange came out on Substatic on the Dispo Dancer EP. It's been lightly remixed for a reissue, the 2005 edit, which came out on CrosstownRebels (damian lazurus' label btw.)

As for Holden, the kid impresses me no matter how much i try to not like him. Heard several tracks from him this year that i enjoyed. One that i listened to several times, and never bought, but instantly purchased upon returning from wmc...is Nathan Fake - The Sky is Pink (Holden Remix). Sven played it, Lazurus did too...both just gave me the most erie feeling, that track is such a moody fker. Love it.
Nathan Fake - The Sky is Pink (Holden Remix). Sven played it, Lazurus did too...both just gave me the most erie feeling, that track is such a moody fker. Love it.
Amazing track. I was listening to it last night just sitting here working on my class schedule so that I can graduate in December. It's definitely one of those rare tracks that has a personality all its own. IMHO it tells an entire story in during the 9 minutes or so that it plays. And the breakdowns in it are so subtle but are led up to in such a frenzy. It's a beautiful yet haunting piece that should be used as a benchmark for intelligent production.

Re: Tracks of this year?s WMC

nathan fake is awesome, and james holden is too. i know what jenks means, for a long time i didnt even give holden a chance because of the echoed memories of nothing etc.... all the stuff i can't stand to hear any more, but enjoyed back in the day :x
