Re: Curiosity has landed
Sorry to bust your delusional bubble, you have an issue with the Government giving 2 Billion to Nasa to go to Mars, I don't. There are no issues in MY head as far as the title of the thread goes "Curiosity has landed", but there sure are issues swirling in your head to draw parallels to hungry people.

Seriously, quit while you're still ahead.
There is nothing to be ahead of. You are right about me having issues with money I think could be balanced better in it's spending, but you seem to be taking it very personally . That is your issue.

Re: Curiosity has landed

Are you expecting a different response by saying it again and again? That I'm taking it personally? I haven't taken anything personally, but senseless arguments do get a rise of out me. But if having your last word is what tickles your fanny pack, then I'll let you indulge in the glory. I promise you I won't reply anymore.

Re: Curiosity has landed

fuck sake... another thread that soon gets lowered to the depth of ms internal arguments and i,ve only read the last page and a half

not wanting to get involved in anything i,m gonna put my feelings across about the subject

imo getting off this planet to another world is probably one of the most important things humans can do for every living thing on the planet because if we don't then everything is going to die and again imo that would be such a waste of something so precious, the sun is going to explode one day taking out the whole system and yet were in a position to move on and continue life... its a great feat for not only mankind but also every living thing on the planet and i think that instead of certain countries doing it on their own i think they should get together and do it on a global scale... it important

The problem Banned1 is that there is no sense of DECORUM on Mercury Server, I'm not sure why? In most public forums members either abide by certain general standards or they are banned. The general standards should be not to HIJACK a thread, instead start a new thread, and not cause a TRAINWRECK. The word trainwreck in this instance means to "DERAIL" the subject matter in a given thread intentionally.

NASA is pushing research of growing food via hydroponics: Wikimedia Error

And they're imaging cancer: http://www.nasa.gov/vision/earth/technologies/combat_cancer.html

They're also treating cancer: http://www.nasa.gov/topics/nasalife/features/heals_photos.html

They're preventing Heart failure: http://www.nasa.gov/centers/glenn/moonandmars/med_topic_lvad.html

And treating depression: Seasonal affective disorder (SAD)

I could Google this all day long :) Their program has a global impact. As others have said, they aren't going to cure every single problem, but their focus is definitely on more than just space travel.

This looks like I started this thread but I didn't so please either change title or remove my posts Thanks Joking about starvation? Very cool

The mods moved the trolling from the other thread to this one, it's impossible for you to back out now.

Re: Space Projects Vs. Starvation - An [ms] debate...

Sigh all you want old lad, it was you who started the thread stating "curiosity has landed". We now know that you weren't inviting discussion on the subject as dissenting voices have been silenced. So, were you informing us all of this event in case we hadn't heard already? Unlikely i'd have thought. Subsequent posts hinted at a kind of petty nationalism that does you no favours at all. "united states of space"? "gb got the olympics, we landed on mars"? - oh dear, another master race on the horizon is it? We all know Nasa is a body of great minds from all over the globe so why do you post pictures stating "we" did this backed by an american flag? Just to get a reaction I would guess, or trolling to put it in your own terms. After the embarrassing nationalism came the claims of space research helping the world, not before. There are by-products of all science that help others in some way or advance things more quickly than they otherwise would have by default, no argument there. But to say it helps everyone is simply not true. Missile technology may well advance at such a rate that you now have a new coating on your frying pan and medicine advances at a faster rate during wartime but it's a huge failure in joined up thinking to follow that logic through and say "war helps everyone". I didn't deny that it's a scientific achievement to land on Mars, of course it is. But i'm of the opinion that it an enormous use of resources for little known return. It is a luxury, like a holiday (as Kamal put it). So comparing luxuries to basic needs of humanity is fair enough i think when talking of resources. Or is humanity a less important denominator than that fucking flag of yours that you are brainwashed into singing songs at?

I certainly didn't expect starvation to be made into a joke. "arbitrary hunger"? ffs (sigh)

back out of what? I said

MS is the wild wild west of electronic music. we cover wide expanses. Not just trance, not just house, not just techno, not just ambient, but just about everything.

If you demand 'decorum', might I recommend a more fascist board where even the slightest hint of dissent or banter is resolved with a permabannhammer?

Do we not have the 'block' function on this forum???

Then start your own thread!

If a member starts a thread nowadays, great, and if for whatever reason their thread gives you ideas for a different TOPIC .............. which is basically how a message board works..........then start a new thread of your own with your new TOPIC.......

Going off on a completely unique tangent of your own doesn't help anything Mariner. Without some sort of organization, what do you expect to happen? Threads get KILLED.

It's as if there's a gang of rogue THREAD KILLERS here on Mercury Server nowadays who take pride in it.

The name of this forum is General Yakkity Yak not the "Only if Floridaorange says so"forum. And this from the country that so staunchly upholds the right to free speech. ;)

Perhaps some threads deserve to be killed. ;) Maybe then some of the people that used to contribute to some really interesting discussions might come back.

I see friends shaking hands, saying "How do you do?"

They're really saying "I love you."

And I think to myself.... what a wonderful world.

Re: Space Projects Vs. Starvation - An [ms] debate...

Who exactly went off at a completely unique tangent? The discussion has been opinions about space travel in a thread about a spaceship landing on mars. Could it be more relevant? Please explain your rules a little more clearly mr internet policeman. In the last 2 pages we have learntthat americans see the poorest of the world as dumb for living in a desert with no water, while they themselves deserve worlwide praise for spending billions and sending a craft millions of miles to . . . Er . . . . A desert with no water

Hats off!!

I had a similar argument with an illogically religious dude not too long ago, he insisted the Garden of Eden was in Missouri. It feels like deja vu all over again.
