Re: beatport

For the first time Australia is cheaper, those are our prices in $. I still think it's all quite cheap, and I pay for WAV as well.

Re: beatport

fuck beatport...they are robbing bastards... how can they justify something like this ?

i got the cd delivered to my door from amazon for £7

#1632904Post 7 of 33

Re: beatport

^^ I must admit I can't see how they justify that. That has stopped me buying some digital only albums. One was going to cost me $80 . I just bought few of the tracks I liked.

Are Fabric all mixes ?? rather than compilations??, because the Guy Gerber is, so it's only $1 extra to get it in wav . It would have been cheaper to buy that way than as a cd for me. But I love the actual cd. In it's little tin

Re: beatport

They're the same for me as they've been for a couple of years. 2,5 € for an exclusive. Something to do with the region and the VAT?

Re: beatport

Yep, they were that to me too before, now the VAT just shows on the price before you click it. Before they added it at check out.

Re: beatport

The "Exclusives" really ruin it. I hope the producers and labels at least get a good return.

#1633179Post 16 of 33

Re: beatport

the far more interesting thing is that beatport has dropped all facebook like buttons and replaced them with Google+ share buttons.

lol google+ lol

i wonder who the "social media expert" who sold them on that was.

Re: beatport

I view Beatport as a necessary evil and as such, don't spend nearly as much time browsing music there as I once did.

Might I ask, if you don't spend much time browsing music there, where do you spend time browsing?

Soundcloud and even random Youtube searches have proved fruitful most times. I just find I lose interest quickly on Beatport. shrug

#1633340Post 21 of 33

Re: beatport

I'm still using Beatport, but the DJ charts lost any meaning and just random searching a genre is useless. My Beatport still works but Soundcloud is the place where you can listen to unreleased stuff and previews, even YouTube as lockedgroove says. There are several channels devoted to promos and new stuff.

Re: beatport

the charts have been terrible, they have gone more to quantity over quality, i usually check only my artists there and labels, cant browse there anymore

#1633346Post 24 of 33

Re: beatport

I don't use it any more. Find it shite to get around and would rather the interfaace was how it used to be.

#1633347Post 25 of 33

Re: beatport

Well, I CAN POST A CHART! People might say "DJ chart, wtf". Proper charts can let you discover new amazing artists you overlooked (Nina Kraviz-->Smallpeople). But then you see a hundred DJ Guidos posting charts of their own productions!!

#1633348Post 26 of 33

Re: beatport

You can find some great deals there though. Individual tracks @ 1.99 or buy the whole 3 track release for . . . . Er . . . . 5.97

Wicked

juno is good on that, but also have a hard time surfing it..

the art attachment to records had a big role

Re: beatport

Tell you what pisses me off  I put tracks into one playlist and the difference in quality and volume is staggering at times, and I buy them all supposed in WAV . Never go to browse beatport, go there when I find tracks I want to buy .

You oughta see my cart...oof!

Re: beatport
the difference in quality and volume is staggering at times,
It's what the artist typically submits it as. BP has really no say as to what the volume (and sadly quality is) at times (whether it says WAV or 320 MP3).

Beyond that I use MP3Gain to set a folder of stuff all at relatively constant volumes.

Re: beatport

I do buy off Beatport but the way they categorize the tracks beats me...it's almost random as far as I can tell. I hear house labeled as indie, prog labeled as techno, techno labeled as deephouse and dubstep labeled as Drum 'n Bass. What the fuck.

Oh and I hate dubstep. Just made up my mind about that somewhere this week.
