I'm sorry... I mean I was a huge fan of MMII

but DID HE USE A TAPE DECK WITH NO HEADPHONES to mix this or something? The programming is horrible, the mixing sucks. he even has me hating songs that I like because he put them together so poorly.

and then to top it off the "john digweed fabric 20" robot voice around the second track?

come the fuck on

what in bloody hell is going on

Re: Digweed Fabric 20

uh, must agree, not his best work. not even close.

Re: Digweed Fabric 20

I like it. I mean it's not my favorite Digweed mix by far (G.U. 014 - Hong Kong) but I can dig it. I think the Fabric 20 mix has somewhat of a more mainsteam sound for John even though none of his mixes can really be considered mainstream in my opinion.
and then to top it off the "john digweed fabric 20" robot voice around the second track?
Thats whats is called a promo release. That voice is put there by the label for people to buy the release instead of keeping the promo or downloading it. Listen to the retail and your opinion will change. Its not his best album, but its not that bad.

#388268Post 8 of 54

Re: Digweed Fabric 20

yes im well aware of promo signatures but they should at least say "promo"

based on the mixes on that cd I honestly thought that was some lame effect they added.

and I do download most cds and then buy the ones I like...

I couldn't AGREE with you more. It's not popular to disagree with most, but I'm glad you have the balls to voice your opinion. Come the fuck on people... That CD blows.

i've listened to it 2 times, and quickly put it away. i prefer the kiss mixes over that.

i liked it :)

Re: Digweed Fabric 20

it must be noted that this is a Fabric release, so of course its gonna have its own flavour - and kudos to Diggerz for making a mix that conforms to the Fabric style... for lack of a better term...

I personally didnt like this cd, but then Im not a huge fan of the Fabric series anyways...

im guessing a praise thread for this one

Re: Digweed Fabric 20

Well, he's sort of changing his sound right now. Personally, I think what he's doing, while not always being right up my alley, is a welcome breath of fresh air to the progressive scene. I especially like that he's playing a more techhouse sound. "Progressive" is becoming stagnant; it's up to top DJs to push it forward.

He's going in the right direction- away from huge room trance, which has had its run. As for the mixing, well, there is no excuse...but whatever. He still the man in my book.

Re: Digweed Fabric 20

Listened to it a few times and it kind of grows on me,but i think it will be one of those cd's that gathers dust on the shelf.it has some quality moments though-tracks 1,3 and the last one are special

#388538Post 18 of 54

Re: Digweed Fabric 20

I didn't care for it at first. However, the more I listened to it the more I liked it. I agree that the flow is off a bit but overall I still enjoyed the CD. It's definitely not his best work, but I'm not disappointed either...

Ehh... digweed has moved away from the big room trance for a while now...
I wouldn't totally call this tech house, but maye after listening to bill patrick I'm spoiled

yah I mean don't get me wrong, I know it will be a successful cd in it's own right, and he is catering to the crowd the cd is meant for... i mean you gotta sell out to some extent in this world if you wanna make some cash

Re: Digweed Fabric 20

I agree, Fabric 20 is garbage.

#388569Post 24 of 54

Re: Digweed Fabric 20

For me digweed has been on a steady decline for the last year and a half.....

I dont really enjoy his radio show at all anymore....his fabric cd was below average....and the live sets (like the one he just played from madrid) sounded average as well....

And when i saw him live at the summer tour this past summer....it was prbably my least favroite digweed performance that i have seen live.

I hope he wakes up soon and gets back to his roots....Listen to some mixes from 2001...thats the real diggers imo.

#388578Post 25 of 54

Re: Digweed Fabric 20

I think Digweed is trying to move forward and evolve hisd sound, but it doesn't seem to be working, he should go back to what he knows and does so well, bang out some deep dark progressive house, he is a master of his sound and should stay true to it. Just my opinion of course. :)

#388579Post 26 of 54

Re: Digweed Fabric 20

maybe he's bored with it.

#388585Post 27 of 54

Re: Digweed Fabric 20

i don't think Digweed can afford to be self indulgent like that, there are a lot of good DJs out there who have been forging a sound unique to themselves, Digweed is moving into territory that is already mastered by DJs who are better at it than him, Digweed is a master of Deep & Dark progressive house, nobody can deliver the unique vibe he creates except himself, thats why he has the status he has today.

#388586Post 28 of 54

Re: Digweed Fabric 20

i agree about him being the all time king of evil progressive music. im just thinking that maybe since he's been playing that sound for so long, he's grown tired of it. i mean, he is a human. we get tired of repitition.

#388589Post 29 of 54

Re: Digweed Fabric 20

John is always messing around. and for the Fabric CD is just made sense. Most of those cd's are very DIFFERENT.

it really did not bother me that much. I guess i am open to new things.
^^^ AS FAR AS PUSHING NEW AND NEAT. YOU ARE CORRECT JENKS.
Correct. I'll give them that. But in this case, unfortunately, "new and neat" is currently tech house. And tech house, as everyone that knows me already knows, is what I call "Gitmo Music." It would be a PERFECT interogation tool at Gitmo to try and break "terrorists." It would only take about 2 mins.

Gowd I hate tech house.

I am not a big fan. But I have heard some great Tech House Sets, and they have the same feeling and mojo as any other "solid" set.

Just becareful what you step in.

The 2001 sound was deep dark and progressive every DJ was fuckin banging

sander blew me away in 2001.. cusuck's kiss from 2001 is probly my favorite mix of all time...

i miss 2001 to bad i wasn't old enough to go out at that time

Re: Digweed Fabric 20

Have listened to it three times now and that'll be about it for me....just not the sound I want......should have known better though....it is a Fabric release after all.......the only Fabric I've really liked was the Michael Mayer mix....that's what I was hoping for from Digweed!!!!!!!

i like it, it's ok i think as more popular you are, more people look on your with bigger demand, we are all not perfect and djs is not a god. This cd is ok, i listened it couple of times and will listen more for sure, it's not annoying as many mixes are.

in my opinion, the problem is that he tried something different, and everybody (and their mother) wanted/expected more of the same. credit to diggers for taking a risk, whether it paid off or not. i think it did, but appear to be in the minority.
