It has always been Zed.
Re: W, x, y, zed
My damn Capetown counterparts always say zed on our conf calls. Zed's dead.
And it's ROUT-er, not ROOT-er. Kthxbai.

Back home, I get chuckled at each time I say "this road looks like it's going to take hours to get home, let's take a different ROUT" and I get told, "you mean ROOT".
Re: W, x, y, zed
Also, how about they start driving on the right side of the road? I mean, we Americans do this because, well, after all, we won.
Zee. Zee. Zee.
Oh wait, in povertyball, it's NIL. NIL??? (WTF?) What happened to Zero. Or is that also Zed?? I understand inferior societies need different words for the same concept.
Indeed.

Look.
I'm only addressing the outdated use of the word "zed"
If you want to discuss accents, then there should be a new thread awaiting me to comment how the british accent is like a redneck accent.
in fact, now that i think about it, brits are a lot like rednecks, with the difference being they don't get enough sun (and therefore cannot, in fact, have reddened necks)
does this mean i am "one cheeky cooont"?
Re: W, x, y, zed
nah, it means you're just a stupid Yank.

Hmm.
By chance, is your favo(u)rite povertyball team called "Mad. U"?
Re: W, x, y, zed
nah, not a fan of sports. i'm more into delicate morning teas with hints of jasmine and lavender. they go especially well with my boat shoes and polos with little alligators on them.

Which British accent?
Re: W, x, y, zed

Now that basically sums up middle class America, that seems to be the uniform of choice whenever I am outside of New York.
Re: W, x, y, zed
Which British accent?
the ones in the south half of britain
Re: W, x, y, zed
Haha, excellent.
That is like saying that the Californian accent is like Texas accent, or the New York accent is the same as the Dakota accent.
In the southern half you have Birminhgham, Leicester, Norfolk, Suffolk, London, Essex, Gloustershire, Deven, Cornwall that are all so different from each other that is is unreal.
Same up North, you have Liverpool and Manc for a start, 30 mins away and like different languages, then you have Leeds and Bradford, Newcastle and Sunderland, it goes on and on.
Interesting perception, I am the same with most US accents though, most of them make me think the person sounds a bit...well, stupid. I know this is just a perception, but I guess it is what you are saying too. Interesting.
