Re: I caught someone leaching....

Re: I caught someone leaching....
Ok the new password is posted now...but PLEASE guys take us serious. If we see more people who are logged in which can't be authenticated this service might come to an end so take care you are at least logged in to [MP] for a minute so we know who you are if you are logged in and DO NOT GIVE THE LOGIN INFO OUT TO ANYBODY OR YOU CUT YOURSELVES OFF.
Re: I caught someone leaching....
OK, caught somebody else leeching with the IP 203.113.208.31...guy was logged in 3 times at once and I couldn't identify him...so his IP was banned.
Re: I caught someone leaching....
no matter how careful you can get, there's always someone out there...
just a mtter of watching things as colsely as possible and kicking them out as soon as they are spotted...
Re: I caught someone leaching....
What about users with dynamic IP's?
Very bad if there already are unauthorized users leeching though.
Re: I caught someone leaching....
that sucks
Re: I caught someone leaching....
Is it possible someone with a secondary computer logged in with their password from their second computer without realizing the problem it would cause for you all? I have a couple computers. Have not done this thru the FTP, but have posted to the forums in the past from different computers. Maybe someone just didnt THINK! :|
Re: I caught someone leaching....
well I'm pretty certain no one had the older logins memorized, so you would HAVE to login to the site to get it cause the passwords threads are not viewable by guests. Once you login, the forums save your IP. I have a record of every IP that you login to the forums with..... PLUS, there are only 100 odd members who are given access to the FTP and those are primarily regulars.... so to think one slipped past the cuckoo's nest is a little hard....

Re: I caught someone leaching....
I'm not 100% sure how the IP address info is generated. Does it come from the individual computer, or the internet line. Say 3 computers are on a network fed by a single cable or DSL modem. Do all 3 computers have the same IP address? I was understanding them to be different by only a one number. So if someone used two different computers, would this cause a red flag to go up since only one IP address would be recoqnized as a particular username?
I agree with the need to monitor leaching, and users tapping in more than once. Your doing a great job there! :Cheerz:
