Hello [ms], i want to share with you this amazing web

Transitionscues

U can find there tracklistings and cue files for many radio shows like Transitions, Resident, Radio Therapy, Sound Garden, etc.

Would be amazing have an integration with tosk (the author of the web) and [ms] to keep improving the radioshows thread!

:D:D:D:D:D

Re: Cue & Tracklisting

I love this idea, but the zip files aren't opening properly :(

Re: Cue & Tracklisting

Hello there! tosk here. What zip files are you having problems opening DIDI?

#1615907Post 5 of 33

Re: Cue & Tracklisting

The cue files. For some reason they keep trying to open in VLC and it doesn't work. Mac, which has as a core service Archive utility, and it is working with other zip files. I love the idea of cue files !!:D

Re: Cue & Tracklisting

I'm using foobar2000. I don't have a Mac, so I have no idea what program to use there.

#1615912Post 7 of 33

Re: Cue & Tracklisting

Macs have an installed Archive utility, but I did try another program and even when I tried that it still tried to open in VLC. It is the first time I have ever had this problem :)

Re: Cue & Tracklisting

I use Mac and Unarchiver to open zip files and everything works perfect!

Re: Cue & Tracklisting

^^^ Yeah all other zipfiles except these. Btw you don't need unarchiver, although I still have it, and it doesn't work with these either. I select it and they still want to open with VLC. Do you have VLC on your mac. ?? Because maybe that is the issue.

Re: Cue & Tracklisting

I'm on the mac with both VLC and Unarchiver installed. The zip file for NID's MS 10 mix unzips fine for me into a cue sheet.

#1615973Post 11 of 33

Re: Cue & Tracklisting

Well as you can see Hernan's Resident doesn't for me  Neither did transitions Have you got the latest VLC ??Cos Nid's didn't work either :( This I will uninstall anyway ! I don't use it much and it's too intrusive now in other areas.

#1615976Post 12 of 33

Re: Cue & Tracklisting

Maybe try right clicking on the zip file and select Open with ... something else besides VLC? Or Get Info on the zip file and change the default app setting?

Re: Cue & Tracklisting

If you look at the pics you can see I have done and VLC isn't even an option for opening

I'm going to give up , although I would have loved to be able to put up cuefiles for resident. I got rid of VLC and this is what happened  It now wants to open in toast , anything except will that will actually open it properly

I've done all the things like restart , repair permissions etc. And for the record this is the only site I have tried where it is happening .

Absolutely no problem here. So giving up is probably sensible

I did try changing defaults in info . Thanks for trying for me though :)

Re: Cue & Tracklisting

That's odd, Hernan's cuesheet unzips fine for me too.

#1615996Post 15 of 33

Re: Cue & Tracklisting

Have you tried Amarok DIDI? It supports cuesheets, and is available for Mac.

#1616009Post 16 of 33

Re: Cue & Tracklisting

^^ Maybe not. Googled and came up with this  Dated 25th April
Please be aware that no stable version of Amarok for Mac OS has yet been released. This means those builds are FOR TESTING PURPOSES ONLY. There is no official support for them. These builds might be unstable, have bad side effects, kill your cat, start WW IV or even worse, may not work at all. You have been warned!
Quite honestly I would rather work out why it isn't working for me, if I am going to spend time on it.

feather, as you can see I tried on more that Hernan's none of the ones I tried worked.

Don't suppose there is anyway it could be a country thing?? Nah I think that is a silly question.

#1616010Post 17 of 33

Re: Cue & Tracklisting

feather , another question, are you running windows or OSX??

#1616041Post 18 of 33

Re: Cue & Tracklisting

OS X of course :)

#1616042Post 19 of 33

Re: Cue & Tracklisting

Yeah another silly question. :(

This is the same as Microsoft's certified drivers. It doesn't mean there are risks or whatnot. Most open-source apps or third parties apps never reach the "stable" status but stay as betas or version 0.0.1287 for years. Amarok is not the only solution but it's a pretty solid alternative.

Re: Cue & Tracklisting

Up to date I have tried MULTIPLE unarchive apps and the result has been exactly the same with every one. But on zip files from this site. I have NO PROBLEMS at all with zip files from other sites.

As I said , if i am going to spend time on this , I would like it be in working why it doesn't work for me and it does for others. I don't want other apps , I want reasons why it may not be working. There has to be one. Perhaps I am doing the wrong thing somewhere?? Although it's pretty hard to get "download the cue" wrong

Re: Cue & Tracklisting

Certainly perplexing! I'm curious to get to the bottom of this too  Have you uninstalled VLC?

#1616131Post 23 of 33

Re: Cue & Tracklisting

Yes. !! So now it tries to open with toast.

#1616132Post 24 of 33

Re: Cue & Tracklisting

Have you done Get Info on the cue file and change the application it opens with? And check 'Apply to all' ?

What do you use cue sheets with on the Mac anyway (for mp3 playback)?

#1616133Post 25 of 33

Re: Cue & Tracklisting

I might buy a mac, they sound great fun

#1616147Post 26 of 33

Re: Cue & Tracklisting

Cues should be posted as text too, so people could just copy and paste.

And Bobjuice:EvilFlic:

Ok I am definitely giving up. Unless someone can replicate it , it's going to be pretty impossible to find out what it is anyway. :)

Re: Cue & Tracklisting

I don't go around memorising the posts in every thread DD, no need to be snarky.

Re: Cue & Tracklisting

I wasn't being snarky, I just wanted you to look at the answers I gave you to your previous questions:(

Jeez I gave bobjuice the finger and he didn't take offence  At least I hope he didn't !

Re: Cue & Tracklisting

I've got it!!! :D Just to explain what it was, if anyone cares. The zip files were in fact opening to .cue , but when I tried to open the cue file it was defaulting to VLC and that didn't work. When I removed VLC it defaulted to Toast, which apparently will work but you have to play with it. I refuse to believe it had to be that difficult on a mac  Sooo, changed default to textedit . I now have cue sheets.:) Thank you for the link . :D

Thought it would be something simple. :)

Re: Cue & Tracklisting

Before having to sell my beautiful MacBook, I'd use http://cogx.org/ for cuesheets and various lossless formats. I just associated .cue to Cog ad that was it. There are probably more sophisticated apps now, it's been a few months.

Re: Cue & Tracklisting

I'm quite happy with simple, that was the reason I loved macs to start with. Sorry to hear about yours.:(

I just noticed you are from Florence I will be there early September. :)
