recently i,ve noticed that the spammers dont bother with thread replies as such in a normal way but rather they put the spam in their sig and then post so the spam is seen in the sig

cant admin give a minimal; post count before a user is allowed a sig ?

ive had sigs turned off for a few years now because even the non-spam ones are too annying imo. :lol: but this is a good idea.

i dont think ur getting what i mean here, i'd say over 50% of the traffic this site see's is from people who are not signed in which plays into the spammers hands

We need to get rid of the spammers instead of the signatures, but we need to be careful not to ban legit people who have a link to one of their sites hyperlinked. I probably ban on average one spammer per day, but I have signatues disabled so I could be missing some.

I like the idea, though, and it's simple enough to do. I just set it so members with less than 25 posts can't have a signature. I haven't had signatures turned on for years, so I can't confirm this. Someone please let me know if you see someone with 26+ posts who should have a signature but doesn't.

a few other things that might be possible:

hidden fields on the registration page that automatically deactivate accounts that fill them in. Xrumer automatically fills in hidden fields when registering ;)

a custom question on the reg. page like "who's diggers' partner in crime?"
