I just read in a science journal that people who listen to dance music tend to have addictive personalities. What do you all think?
Scientists also say Classical music listenners tend to think more logically.

One durable person. One social graph. Many communities—and every way people speak, share, listen, write, gather and remember.
I just read in a science journal that people who listen to dance music tend to have addictive personalities. What do you all think?

im addicted to lots of stuff.. so i guess i would somewhat agree with that
well i am easely addicted, and so is the rest of the people on here. is there one who can say they aren't addicted to MS, and that's just for starters. but i must also be logical because i also enjoy classical music. and i do think of myself as logical. so these guys seem to have a point :!:
I don't agree with these so-called scientists...they have too much time on their hands.
How can they generalize one's personality by the type of music they listen to?
I AM AN ADDICT. DEFINITELY.
Thank god I haven't tried heroin.
I've been listening to this music since I was 13 yrs old. I would say i am addicted to this music.
That was an overgeneralization if I ever heard one. I believe that MOST, not all people that listen to dance music are within a certain age group. People in that age group might still be experimenting with many things because they?re still young enough, so to conclude that most of us have addictive personalities is a little far fetched I think. I could be wrong. I still listen to dance music daily, I?m old and I?m no longer addicted to anything? well maybe just coffee.

that's pretty broad in description.
we also have magnetic personalities, diverse personalities, you can throw in a list of adjectives and never "pin-point" a specific trait that would classify people that listen to "dance" music. EDM is always evolving and it's a beautiful thing.
And what about mental disorder????
People who listen to dance music are usually smarter on the whole than those who don't, seeing as it takes a certain mental capacity to understand it. Don't know about addictions though. Personally I think I am able to control myself :?

anyone is going to say that about the music they have a passion for, though. shit, even people that listen to country music say that and i think that music is shit.
Which scientific journal was it? I'd like to read the article. I would agree with it - I think I do have an addictive personality.
nyone is going to say that about the music they have a passion for, though. shit, even people that listen to country music say that and i think that music is shit
well, There is some validity to claiming that about electronic music. Because it is based almost entirely on form and texture. Very similiar to classical music in that sense. Thats part of the reason it is so addictive. Its productive for your brain to interpret.
What if you listen to like, william orbit? does that make you both logical and prone to addiction. Like, you're only addicted to the things that really matter.
^^ something like that . I just think of music as kind of a healthy addiction. even though more often than not it may lead to some unhealthy ones.
its true , im addicted to ebay and pr0n
I listen classic music too and I'm still addicted.
wow, psychologists are now scientists.
I agree too!
i consider myself to be a scientist with an addictive personality
fuck to the scientists!!!! why don?t they go to study the evolution of the monkey or some shit like that??????????? it?s just music, fun, cool parties (the best ones)... they think the know everything, they just need some :Anal:

This could be true, I am one of those people. but thats just me

I have a semi addictive personality not to the point thats it's a bag thing which is good. I'm also quite passionate.
Men who listen to dance music usually have
Hugeeee  And I could be a scientist you know!
Yeah! i think in some part they have a good opinio: i'm totally an obsesive person! :Naughty: :Naughty:
Out of curiosity, did the report say anything about what people who listen to pop or mainstream music tend to do?
That's like saying people who listen to rap music shoot people. What a crock-o-shit. Any chance of getting the source/
I think that everyone is addicitve... in one way or another.

good point chato, being addicted is not being able to live without it right? and every person on earth is addicted to attention. (we all search companion and can't live without it and not feel miserable) so...if people who tend to be addicted listen to dance music and everybody is addicted, that would mean that everybody listens to dance music. if dance music means music you can dance to then they are actually right because you can dance to country, pop, rock, classical music,... everything. DIXI
I also think that dance music makes listeners agressive... I think it has worked with me
I listen to dance music, i dont have an addictive personality. . .
now where did i put my stash! :Wasted:
I have an addictive personality so it is true for me...
But I think they should be more specific as to a more narrow description...
For all they know I could be addicted to music....
or tube socks
or.... :Naughty:
I suspect that if you were to make the exact same statement about virtually any musical genre you would find that a large number of its listeners would also say yeah I have a semi addictive personality etc. Anyone who is deadset on music of any type is likely addicted to the music so there is some truth any this statement. But I suspect that these "scienctist" are allowing certain stereotypes to bias their evaluations. IMHO

dead on for me.

Scientists also say Classical music listenners tend to think more logically.
dead on for me.
Me 2. Thats one of my problems. I think about everything logically, even when I know people, in general, aren't logical.
"Why would he do that, its just not logical."
And so it drives me crazy.
Any way regarding the rest of the article. I definetely have an addictive personality, and everyone I know who listens to this music does. Hell, the more I think about it, doesn't everyone have an addictive personality? Everyone is addicted to something, its just part of being human.
addiction....ummm whats that?
