Gents,

My CDJ1000 MKIII and MKI setup is to the point that I am ready to pony up for a new pair of 900s or 2000s. I know that the 2000s have the drifting pitch issue that has been well documented on the Pioneer message board and in this forum. However, having used them extensively I am still leaning towards a pair of them over the 900s. Am I crazy to go that route? I've not had the pleasure of using the 900s so I can't speak to how much of a downgrade they are from the flagship 2000.

Any jocks had a go at the 900s? I am specifically interested in any feedback on the display as compared to the 2000. Yes, the 2000 display is pretty and all, but is it really work all that extra coin?

I am very disappointed to Pioneer lately, because for the 2000 series (mixer and players), despite the fact that they took so long to release them, they are under certain issues and there are no significant actions taken for more than a year...

(example: DJM-2000 has serious issues working under Windows 7 x64, CDJ-2000 has serious drifting issues with or without Master Tempo being used)

I feel very lucky and happy to also own an Allen & Heath Xone:4D that serves me well and I swear by it.

Finally bit the bullet and purchased a 2000. Got it for less than $1,500 US dollars.

For the MT it's a YES. for the LINK it's a NO.

It freezes/crashes too often in gigs as many people indicate.

I didn't have the time to experiment with the LINK functionality of the units, so as to have my own personal opinion on that matter. Hopefully when it comes to this need, I hope it is already resolved by Pioneer...

Zero problems with my CDJ-2000 players in the 3 years of ownership. The 4.10 firmware did fix the drifting on Master Tempo issue.

I am among the more active posters on the Pioneer boards, and I can tell you that my experience has consistently shown the cause of most issues is poor quality audio files. (especially if they are MP3) The second biggest source of problems is people not using the Rekordbox software to analyze their music ahead of time.

If you use WAV or AIFF files from reputable sources then the CDJ-2000 works beautifully. If you insist on using crappy MP3 files downloaded from unknown origins over P2P sites, then go figure if there are problems. :roll:

PS: So far I only had drifting issues with my units in either Audio Tracks or MP3 tracks, which were signifficantly fixed with the v4.10 firmware I tested. Apart from that, my units never crashed so far while playing Audio CDs or MP3 files from USB flashdrives or SD cards. Perhaps what you already mentioned has lots of truth, but I still consider the firmware of all the 2000s series (mixer and players) to be buggy and in need of proper improvement.
