Fabric 20 + Fabric 12

I finally picked up Digweed's Fabric 20. At the same time I picked up Fabric 12 - The Amalgamation of Soundz.

I'd been wanting to check out their music for some time now.

This CD is a must-have. If you like any downtempo, laid-back sounds, this is cracking.

Excellent stuff. I wish this Digweed disc would rip faster so I can listen to it too. But Amalgamation of Soundz has me mesmerised right now anyway.

Love the Amalgamation disc -- that, the first Richards mix, and the Radioactive Man volume rank as the best Fabrics to me, with Weatherall's not far behind. The Amalgamation one is just so totally unique. Still get goosebumps every time that track with the strings (like number four or five on the disc) comes in. 8)

Re: Fabric 20 + Fabric 12

That Amalgamations disc is a blinder. Starts of soo smooth and builds up gorgeously into that techy stuff those guys at fabric love so much. Another one to keep your eyes open for is the DJ Heather (fabric.21) coming out soon. Her great chicago house style is given a great kick with some of that techy flavour I just mentioned.

Re: Fabric 20 + Fabric 12

I think Fabric 20 really represents why Digweed is such a great DJ. The first track on there, I feel really catches the aura of the vibe that Digweed brings. Not only do I respect that, but the fact that the track was released in 2003, yet the magic of it comes through Digweed choosing the right time and place to drop it. Awesome disc, My favorites on the disc were song 4 and 11 rocked :!:

Re: Fabric 20 + Fabric 12

Amalgamation of Soundz is definitely one of the best Fabrics (sorry, Digweed)!

Re: Fabric 20 + Fabric 12

Amalgamation of Soundz disc is absolutely stellar. I agreed with the bloke who mentioned the build-up to the techy stuff - when I posted I was still back on the build-up. The second half of the disc makes it. The composition of it as a whole album is ... it's mind blowing. Perfect.

Fabric 12 and Fabric 20 are the best :) (I've not heard any of the others, although I do hear the Tyrant one is good too).

Digweed's mix is phenomenal as well. It deviates from what I expected from Digweed, but always knew of his versatility and this album shows it. Definitely one of the top ones. Although not of a similar sound - I think "Layered Sounds" disc 1's choices are similar in "difference" that Fabric 20 is. It shows a different aspect to Digweed's choice of sound, it's amazing.

Sometimes I wonder, does John listen to OTHER types of music too - like jazz... or hip hop... or classical... or whatever... he certainly has a depth in the electronic range, I wonder how much other musical tastes play into it as well...

Great disks. Both of these are worth the cash and I haven't said that for many CDs for a looooong time.

they are all good imo. disc 2 of fabric 15 (tyrant) is fucking superb.

13 is my all-time favorite fabric disc

Re: Fabric 20 + Fabric 12

Been listening to Diggers new Fabric lately. Some of it kinda drones on and on (in the light I see you, in the dark I feel you), which is kinda strange for The Man. Not as "progressive" as I like him, but hey...he didn't make this mix for me. Overall it's solid, but definitely not his best.

Re: Fabric 20 + Fabric 12

love that amalgamation cd.

Anoter downtempoey one that i quite like is baby mammoth beige and solid doctor. But theres a track in there that freaks me cos it sounds like borat shouting, just a heads up for you all who haven't listened to it yet.
i have heard mixed reactions on the DJ Heather one too, but haven't heard it yet
Her disc kicked ass. I heard it so many times. Defintely can't wait for it to arrive in the mail. Or is it already here?
I have not heard to many of the other fabric cds. I see them all but I prefer the subscription because it saves me a few dollars each month versus paying like $17 - $18 at the store.
