Visionquest have mixed Fabric 61, due for release in early December.

Over the past two years, Visionquest has become one of clubland's most popular DJ and production ensembles. The group is made up of Seth Troxler, Ryan Crosson, Shaun Reeves and Lee Curtiss, four artists who grew up together in Michigan and got their music education at parties in Detroit. As an official collective they got started doing remixes, then developed into a DJ ensemble and finally a record label, which launched with one of the biggest records of 2011, Benoit & Sergio's Where The Freaks Have No Name (i.e. the one with "Walk & Talk").

Fabric 61 is Visionquest's first commercial mix. It reflects the same balance of pop and club sensibilities that characterizes the label, with vocal tunes by Cassius and Footprintz offsetting more stripped down tracks by the likes of STL and DVS1.

"When deciding together which tracks we wanted to go with we took into consideration the timelessness of the songs, tracks from our past and our present and presented them to tell our story," says Reeves of the mix. "The start is very representative of the Visionquest DJ sound and the end shows the eclectic sound of our label. It goes from music for clubs to music for life."

 1. Tin Man - Wasteland
 2. STL - Portside Waves
 3. Soul Center - Hal 2010

Re: Visionquest mix Fabric 61

Quick read on Seth here:

I think it's great to have some Americans holding such sway in Europe. I know some on here have ripped these guys for their sound, but I'm just glad to have some artists such as these pushing the sound into new places.

Re: Visionquest mix Fabric 61

I think they've influenced everyone's sound to the point you can't tell the original from the copy anymore. They kind of conquered the world in 2011.

Re: Visionquest mix Fabric 61

I totally agree, sbando. SO many big jocks are playing their stuff and artists are certainly following suit with sounds of the Visonquest vein.

Crazy that these guys are all from Michigan of all places.

Re: Visionquest mix Fabric 61

The CDs fabric have been sending through have been pretty decent of late, so looking forward.

Usually they stay unopened for ages - this one will get spun.

Re: Visionquest mix Fabric 61

The actual cd for 7.something pounds each month + a store and club discount, now you also have access to the mp3.

Re: Visionquest mix Fabric 61

Thanks gents. Not a bad deal imo.

Though a Yank like me won't ever make full use of the discounts.

Re: Visionquest mix Fabric 61

Not sure if I enjoy their sound as much, but will give it a whirl as I do enjoy the fabric series.

Re: Visionquest mix Fabric 61

Part way through ... not really grabbing me that much so far, but picking up at the Kollektiv Turmstrasse track.

Maybe it will take a few listens.

** Edit ** C2 works his magic on Catz'n'Dogz.

Neo-handbag house.
^Lol. Look up "House", then.
I did. A bunch of dudes from Chicago and NY came up. Loved it, myself. None of them were wearing coloured sunglasses and sporting Miami/Ibiza suntans, though, nor doing K.

Sorry, I really can´t stand it... to me, my type of house has to be a bit more like this

Re: Visionquest mix Fabric 61

I didn't mean that you don't know what the genre was or is, I just don't think that Visionquest and the rest are "handbag house", even if they brought back the garish and silly paraphernalia, which totally belong to house music. I've seen the handbag remark applied to anyone, from MAW to Junior Boy's Own, I don't think that's right. But it definitely defines how some people feel about the current trends.

Re: Visionquest mix Fabric 61

Why confuse the music, whatever the genre, with the paraphernalia? The music is the music and this was a decent mix.
