ok before i start i think some people are maybe going to take offence to this and this is not my goal, no doubt in my mind this is going to upset some people but again this is not the outcome i,m seeking

i guess i should jump straight in and i,m looking for a proper discussion on this rather than a blazing argument

ok its about the jib forum, every time i come here ( several times a day ) the first thing i notice is the jibs forum and every time i see it i,m reminded of jibs, this upsets me, ok i didnt know him as well as u guys did but personally i think it could be time to "let it go"

i,m not sure of how to explain my feelings about this but its been several years since jibs departed from us and if we keep reminding ourselves about it then it may have a detrimental effect on our health also, i dont need a forum popping up every time i come here to remind me of steve ( just my personal feelings )... this is the part i think is going to hurt people and this is not my outcome and again i dont really wanna let this go into a blazing argument and me being the devil child etc etc

i was just brought up in the way of thinking that if u have to get over something u have to let it go

imo the 'jib forum' is more of a memorial of Steve than not being able to let go of the fact that he is not here with us anymore ... from my understanding he meant a lot as a person and as a friend and not just contributor to the forum to quite a few of the older members

i barely knew him but it does remind me of the forum when it was more fun/nonsense than the occasional name calling that we see these days

does the forum really do detrimental damage to your health? do you know anyone else its causing this? i'm not trying to argue either, but i don't feel like this should be addressed in the public forum where the majority of the people didn't know steve (not sure how to get around that though, if this was really bugging you THAT badly).

keep in mind that there are shitloads of things all over the world to remind us of people that have passed. i don't see what's wrong with leaving up a memorial, like corven said, for one of our original members that helped make MS what it has been all these years.

my personal emotions are smiles when i think about steve, whether it be seeing the forum or reminiscing on all the fond memories i had with him.

i agree with u that it probably has that effect to a few but its different how every individual deals with it like any other loss .. like i said previously personally i see it as a memorial to Steve and it reminds me of [MS] as a young and more fun forum

I'd think enough time has past that we can all look at the forum and remember Steve with fondness.

thebanned1, if it helps, you can subscribe to the forums you visit most, and bookmark UserCP as your MS page so you don't have to visit the forum index and see Steve's sub-forum every visit.

I tended to agree with you a few years ago since I didn't know Steve it just seemed like a bummer. But now it is kind of a nice memorial, and the better I've gotten to know Steve's friends on MS the more I understand and respect their memorial to their friend, if that makes sense?

Well i dont think you have much choice Decide what bothers you less, the fact that its there and you have to look at it, or that you pretend its not there by blocking it, i'm almost sure the forum will not be removed

This is definitely a touchy/personal subject for some members on this board (not as many as there use to be unfortunately), me being one of them. I will speak as someone who was close to Steve and was very upset when he left us, and still misses him after all these years. I have never thought of or found it upsetting that the sub-forum was there. I actually find it comforting to be able to go somewhere and read about him and about how much people loved/cared about him....it is especially nice when I am missing him. He was a major part of [ms], and to some extent always will be.

I can see how as the years have gone by that less and less members understand why we need a separate forum for all things Steve, but hopefully once they wander into that part of the forum and read a bit about him, I am sure they can understand and relate to why it is still there.

Huh? That's just you mate. Seeing as you're the one with the problem, we're suggesting solutions for you, as opposed to removing the subforum completely which affects more than one person.

I never knew Steve but I always thought having a subforum tribute was pretty cool. I have never seen this occur at any of the other boards that I frequent which strengthens the fact that [ms] is a unique & special place. Especially, the exceptional people that make up this community.:)

I did not know Steve on a personal level, but we chatted on PM quite a bit as I was always catching up on music, he was a massive help especially allowing me to leech off him on soulseek. He was the one guy on here that I knew (who I didn't even know as a friend) that I could PM and he would deliver the goods.

I love he fact that there is a memorial for him. I miss him.
