pionner cdj 800
Re: pionner cdj 800
my friend has an 800 and it has a less accurate pitch control than my 1000, also the buttons are junky plastic, and their is no waveform viewer...
my advice would be to save up the extra 200 to 300 it'll cost you to get a 1000 :)
STOP BUYING RECORDS FOR A WEEK!
^^^ shit that wouldn't help me any. I just bought my first record in a couple months last week. Finally had some extra money. 8)
im stayin with my cdj100mk2 ! i love it

the pitch adjust on the 800s moves in increments of 5/100 while the 1000s move in increments of 1/100.
i've had the 800s for about 5months and while they dont have all the bells and whistles of the 1000s they are quite cost effective. i purchased two CDJ800s for less than the price of one CDJ1000. they arent as rugged as the 1000s and as others have pointed out the pitch adjust is less accurate, there is no waveform readout, the jog wheels are looser than the 1000s, there is no CD text displayed, and you can only store 1 cue point per CD.
for the beginner or budget conscious DJ i highly recommend the 800s, if you have the cash to burn, then definitely nab the 1000s.
I thought that the 800s had some improvements over the 1000s since they were released later. I can't remember what, though. Of course, the 1000mk2s take the cake.
of course the 1000 is better but honestly, like mentioned above, you can almost get 2 800's for the price of 1 - 1000. i have one 800 and have had no problems with it.But hey, if youve got the cash, go with the 1000's
Being a 1200 user, can you tell me what series of cdj (if any) can read mp3's?

iv been ooberly interested in getting mysel some cdjs for a while now..been a huge fan of vinyl and thought cdjs means selling out but the shit that one can do with those..i mean the potential..mindblowing..but its too expensive down here in australia anyone haave any advise websites or watever..maybe a good deal here in sydney?.. lemme no
i see no reason to have a cd full of mp3's to dj from. Do you simply take two cd's of the same stuff to a gig and go for it like that. That's not what being a dj is all about.
^^^ i agree
Regarding the mp3?: I realized this morning while showering ... why would I want mp3s for djing??? I just got an IRiver H340 and I'm obsessed now with MP3s. it would be nice to add one cdj to the djset up so I can play vinly and then throw stuff on the cdj that my friends' make or that I buy from Beatport. thanks for the slap I'm just all wrapped up in the IRiver- how much to have sooo much music in the palm of my hand.

just burn them as .wav files. sorted
mp3's you will hear a noticeable loss in quality on a big system
WOW. I just wonder how they sound though. Numark is notorious for making shitty products. So who knows.
Guess I should have prefaced. the mp3s are for car and work listening only. I know the quality is considerably less than a wav. file. Currently I use Wavelab to do conversions from high quality wav to mp3 for toolin' around.
Funny to talk about quality yet vinyl is inherently lower quality than a digital version altho I think it lacks warmth and I don't mind hearing the crackle of a record occassionally. There's something enjoyable about the tactile sensation of wax that cds just don't have... nevermind using your laptop.

my mate has them, and swears by them. if you like the feel of being able to still "spin" vinyl while playing cd's, he told me these are the way to go. and the torque is just as good the 1200's, if not better.
