Rock bands are clothing models in disguise?

Something I noticed and wonder if anyone else has noticed.

I was flipping through the newest Rolling stone and saw Kings of Leon modeling clothes. Noticed that Franz Ferdinand, the Killers, and others seem like clothing models that can play rock. Btw, that Killers album is overrated or maybe I need more listens.

OT, but if you like that dance-rock style, check out The Rapture and especially LCD SoundSystem. LCD kick the Killers? ass, IMO.

BTW all you have to do is open up any 'Rolling Stone', 'Spin', 'BPM', 'Insert Music Industry Mag Title Here' and you have flip through virtually a billion clothing advertisements before arriving at the table of contents. They're laden with fashion advice, ads, etc.

rock bands and rock music is like all other popular music where as its entirely about the image. fuck them, and fuck that. a lot of newer stuff has a "whiny" sound to it, like the dude is crying or something over the mic. or its entirely the opposite where its some dude fucking screaming over the mic while his drunk buddies are whaling the shit out of the guitars and it just sounds like noise. that's crap, but hey if the guy looks like a badass then his music must be good.....right?

i loved rock in my early days, listened to all kinds of rock related genres. then i got utterly bored with it, as to me it all sounds the same (the new stuff - i still enjoy and appreachiate some classic rock with out a doubt) then i tried rap out for a bit, realized i didnt want to have any characteristics of a 'thug' but i liked music with a beat, then i started on rap instrumentals, then i found 'the light' shortly thereafter. there now you know my life story.

ps rock bands blow

Re: Rock bands are clothing models in disguise?

i quit listening to rock when all of the lead singers either commited suiside, ODed, or got tossed in jail...

hip hop is the future of "image"
