I can?t make up my mind yet. I was going for the Pioneer HDJ1000, which I read it has an excellent quality of sound, but I also read MANY user complaints about these headphones breaking in the headband after a few months of good care. What do you guys think? May I go for the SONY MDR-V900 or should I take my chances with the HDJ1000?

i like the sonys. i have the 700s for personal, non-dj use and i have 4 or 5 friends who do dj with the same ones.

Look on Mercury promote. There are several topics talking about headphones.

#371369Post 4 of 30

all matter of preference.

i use technics, love them. if they ever break, i'm getting sennheisers.

hate the sonys.

pioneers are okay, i use them sometimes, my girlfriend has the hdj100s.

Had the Sony 700s, they broke and fucked with my ears. Got the Sony 7506s and haven't had any problems yet. The 7506s aren't as pretty as the HDJs or the 700s, but they do the job for home use.

Sennheiser HD25sp's are the only head-phones you'll ever need.

#371721Post 18 of 30

i don't gamble, lol

it's possible i guess. i dont think i would wear phones that i didnt like just for the $$$, but then again, i have never been asked to. :(

#371773Post 19 of 30

from what i hear those 700's have good sound quality but you will toss money down the drain when they crack. so im sure diggers will get a new pair if they break...

all good headphones but preference is the main difference: Pioneer HDJ-1000 SONY MDR-V700 SONY MDR-V600 Sony MDR-V6 Sennheiser HD Pro 280 Sennheiser HD 25 Technics RP-DH1200

if so, does digweed use them b/c they're free or are they actually the best headphones out there?

so paul, which ones do you use?

Re: Which do you think it?s the best Headphone for djing?

I like the Techics personally. The are small yet powerful enough to give you the extra kick you need

Re: Which do you think it?s the best Headphone for djing?

He won't use them because they're free, he'll use them because Sony will say something like: "We'll pay you lots of money to use our headphones". He'll be able to pick which model obviously.

As for myself I'm a Sennheiser HS25sp fan through and through, they have been consistently thrown around airports/clubs/afterparties and survived, sound fucking amazing and are light (which I consider extremely important).

Re: Which do you think it?s the best Headphone for djing?

I agree with Paul Louth. HD25 has a brilliant sound and they are extremely comfortable and durable. HD 25sp are sort of a lightweight version of these. Depends on how much money you are willing to pay.

#371786Post 24 of 30

Re: Which do you think it?s the best Headphone for djing?

go for hd25 for one of the best spl's they have a good impedance that will give a nice loud volume with almost any mixer. they have a low cut but this gives greater clarity when trying to mix. bass sounds in your can can muffle your perception and therefore your mix.

Yep I'd go for the HD25's if the cups swivelled, as I DJ by leaning my head to my shoulder (bad I know, but it's a habit I can't shake now).

Depends how wonky your head is?

The HDJs do me fine, though I've not properly used any of the others.
