So I'm mixing in me bedroom, as per usual, and I decide to have a "classics" night so to speak, and whip out my cheesy trance vinyl and whatever else is intermingled with those rips on about 10 or so CD's. (I love my denon-2600F).

Anyhow, what do I wake from the dead, but some classic twilo tracks (saturday night twilo) that I completely forgot existed, and reminding oneself that a lot cheese is at some point or another "hot" or "wicked" in some way... I find

Junior Vasquez's mix of Macy Gray 'I try" which is a combination of Zombie Nation and the Gray vocal, its so odd I can't being to explain, but its kind of good actually, lol.

And Prince, Thieves in the Temple, Juniors Twilo mix, defintely cheesy, but when played at twilo (sorry chemicalsBeavis) it sounded like the most evil, goosebumps bigger than J-lo's ass, bad-ass track... played at like 11am when the pupils dont get any bigger, that sort of thing. Anyway, there's more, but does anyone recall these? Does anyone care to hear them? Does anyone? Does?

Oh, I remember the days of walking around e-tarded at my friend's apartment listening to the Swiss and Gouda oozing from his speakers. My, my, my thank God those days are gone.

#370764Post 3 of 34

hey i used to spin a lot of hard house ..back then it was the shizzi... 3..2...1..0.. we have ignition ..

#370765Post 4 of 34

I love digging thru the old stuff... the thing is, a lot of people in Tampa wouldnt even recognise most of the old stuff as old stuff, because they have never heard it before, lol.

Mmmmmm, Gouda. Reminds me of a time I was staying in Berlin and I wanted to make enchiladas for my friend, we go shoppin, no cheddar, no jack, and in his cute little german way tries to tell me that gouda is just the same...

thats like Vanilla ice being substituted with MC Hammer... they both melt, same pants pretty much, but 2 very different cheeses. its not ice time, its hammer time, am I right?

I once found a slice of 10-year old classic pizza hidden deep inside my closet.

They sure dont make pizza like they used to.

#370922Post 15 of 34

yeah but did you ever hear junior at Soundfactory? ...now in those days he really was unfreakin believable! I always felt he took a turn towards the cheese the longer he was at Twilo.

#370942Post 16 of 34

Trust me, junior still had something going on at twilo... more psychadelic than SF but not as hard "housewise".

I do question whether or not a lot of people actually know what I mean by being afraid that the music might actually kill me. I still have not heard anyone play harder than Junior, ever. Maybe in bits, and fucking good (I like it hard sometimes, what can I say?), but never like 4 hours relentlessly beating the shit out of the dancefloor and not getting tired or monotonous... (SOMETIMES) Some of ya'll know what I mean... YOWSA!

But he's like 60 now, and I can't risk 4 hours of vocals or gospel... I can't tolerate that kind of behavior.

#370971Post 17 of 34

I didn't say he lost it after SF closed down and reopened as Twilo, in fact I had some great times there with Junior (as well as many a Friday night with S&D and the others). I just felt that somewhere from the middle of his run there was when he started bringing a bit of the cheese and got way too damn gospel/vocally as you said, but before that his was one hell of a party...even for a straight guy  ...can't say the same for after though :(

#370976Post 18 of 34

I love diggin in my creates of old vinyl from the 96-99 era.Brooklyn Bounce,Klubheadz Kickin hard,Veronica-Someone to hold Johnny Vicious remixes,I have a 7inch record of OMC How bizarre remixes,I aslo have that spin spin sugar track,Faithless Insomina Salva Mea.gotta love the classics.

#370979Post 19 of 34

You are correct, you did say that... I pretty much agree with all that you are saying... I don't go to gay clubs at all anymore, and back then I only went to Jr after realizing that this so-called "circuit or ROXY" music made me want to kill myself, or more likely kill Whitney Houston and her evil remixers.

#370984Post 20 of 34

true true, but what I'd give to go back to the junior of old, bangin, housy (not of the hardhouse variety though) and one hell of a mindf&*k! :D

#370989Post 21 of 34

yeah, how did he do that? Damn...

Hi, it's Mike again. Niki, this just isn't working out. It's not you, it's me. I think you're great, we should just take some time off from each other.
