Re: Spotify across the world

initially it was great, just like youtube ( without video's ) where u could ( if u were lucky enough to get an account ) stream and buy all sorts of music that had been uploaded to the server... all sorts of music, basically everything... but unfortunately they they changed the rules for people with a free account changing from unlimited amounts of streams per track to something like 10 plays and the track was still showing in ur playlist but u wouldn't be able to play it.

now u have to fork out a good £10 a month for a subscription which is why i uninstalled it especially due to the fact that there is a far better service by youtube and far far far far far better tune selection if u know what to look for... a lot of artists wouldn't upload thier material to spotify because the basics of it was that even when they sold albums they were not being paid for it due to the "popularity" thing that spotify implies... i.e. people like beyonce would make money when artists like i dunno erm anyone smaller wouldn't get an ephin penny from it... its not really that good for dance music to be honest, don't get me wrong u,ll get all the classics and "some" new releases on there but the thing i only found that it was actually good for was scoping out albums before u actually bought them on somewhere like amazon

premium users can download or rather make albums available to them while they are offline

the basics of it all.... sure try it, but don't really expect anything else from what ur getting from places like youtube etc

Anyone know how I can get any account outside the US? Probably a proxy server?

This was available mostly outside the USA up until now, are you not able to use the UK site?

grooveshark

Re: Spotify across the world

grooveshark was ok but the searching i thought really sucked when i used it. spotify is actually organized by artist/album etc. also im counting down the months until grooveshark is shut down. im suprised they've been running w/o actually acquiring license deals for so long.

I found that there was a much larger selection of music that I liked on grooveshark, but probably because most of it shouldn't legally be there  I see what you mean about the searching though, tried to listen to a compilation album but couldn't work out how to get all the tracks at once.

Spotify used to be great for more mainstream stuff, until they made their changes to the free accounts. Also unavailable in Canada now so got uninstalled.
