Was just thinking about how much this community used SLSK to find set for the P&R section, yet now with Soundcloud and other means of broadcasting sets, has an idea like SLSK fallen to the wayside?

Does anyone on this board still use SLSK
Re: Does anyone on this board still use SLSK
No, haven´t used it in years!
Re: Does anyone on this board still use SLSK
me neither
Re: Does anyone on this board still use SLSK
hell yeah. you can find it all on soulseek... if you have the right connect. you have to really know your underground stuff; share; but most importantly, know the right people and have good repore with them. everyone i'm close with shares thousands upon thousands, and they all are user list only sharers. took a long time to earn that respect
promo use only mind you
can find just about anything from my network. say i see a tracklist and like many a track... booom! i just ask in my soulseek vip rooms
The original Soulseek user base was composed mostly of members of the IDM mailing list,[4] and most of the music first found on Soulseek was underground electronic music or music created by the users themselves.
The user population was believed to have grown rapidly since its beginnings, but there is no published data as to whether that has continued or reversed. Original Soulseek users noticed a huge increase in users when the site Audiogalaxy was closed down in 2002. When comparing the number of users in the then new feature of being able to create rooms in Soulseek, the most joined rooms before the shutdown of Audiogalaxy was around 50 or so people and then jumped to 100 or more after the shut down of Audiogalaxy. Nir Arbel stated in an interview published December 26, 2003 that there were, at that time, over a million registered usernames and that 80,000–100,000 users log on during peak hours.[5]
Version 156 first appeared in 2005.[6] A second 'test' version of the server, version 157, was set up shortly afterwards, which became the primary client in 2008. Version 157 is effectively a separate network, with a separate userbase from version 156. Neither network communicates with the other, however both networks can be run simultaneously on the same computer.
i still know of a few invite rooms, but that's all. and the very few automated many who still keep it running and sharing usually 24/7 pr close.
i never listen to mixes, sets and shows at all anymore, just slsk folders and libraries of rare, old tracks.

really?
Re: Does anyone on this board still use SLSK
totally.
i won't give my figure or many i know on slsk, but rather a query: how many individual digital tracks do you think most djs and listeners have?
Re: Does anyone on this board still use SLSK
Once I learned how to rip from you tube and grooveshark, didn't much need soulseek anymore
Re: Does anyone on this board still use SLSK
I´m suprised.
Actually I thought there wouldn´t be that many members illegally downloading music/encouraging it on a board full of music enthusiasts... (talking about tracks, not published sets)
