We used to travel through time lots at Twilo. Dimensions, Time, Sound, and even to the enchanted land of the bubble chairs.
The Gods of Twilo becamee angry with our bouncing, and to punish us, they tookour bubble chairs, and confused the crackiest of us by adding a sno-cone machine/booth, moving the DJ Booth, and making ice come from the ceiling in great jolts with very loud spraying thunder... invoking the appearance of rings of bright blue and hot pink lights that flashed out strange messages in patterns. They were talking to the Orange square that surrounded us on the dancefloor, the orange square that sometimes chased it's own tail.
If you think I am crazy, you are correct, but everything I just mentioned was real.. ...... No shit.
^^ I am here to confirm his story
Putting it all down on paper (virtual or not) makes it seem somehow far-fetched nowadays... :)
I had this dream, and you were there, and Sasha, and Digweed, and PVD, and Junior, and Danny Howells, and so many other amazing people... I am so sad to have woken up... oh well, its better than having missed that by never having been there.
yeah, twilo fucked me up for good.
left a void in my soul.
so few ppl understand.
lets hope croabr gets the dashing duo back together for the 12 hour marathons in NYC
I have had better and better nights at crobar each time i go, give or take a little for apples and oranges in DJ styles. The 18 and up nights will be crowded on the dancefloor and otherplaces... I managed to wait out lavelle's set and meet a crazy cool new friend upstairs at sasha earlier this month... Didn't feel the brunt of it, i was either in the music completely, or having faith that there are probably some cool other folks around to get to know and chill a bit with.
Am I wrong in saying that there should not be a hip-hop room on these nights? Not out of any racism issue, just a crowd control, main event pumped into all rooms ala twilo style, mystery of which boy is playing the music just by listening kinda dealeo?
I'm with you, man...each time I walk thru the doors at Crobar and see some of the faces I've come to look forward to, I'm feeling a true special connection with a club again. The music gets better and better, their lineups are lining up more and more with what I want to hear, I just wish they'd stop the 18 over, and let some dj's go a bit later.
In response to the other areas/rooms of the club...I'm all for it! Not that I ever go into them, I think it's great that it "weeds" some peeps off the dancefloor and let it be used for what it's intended for...dancing. Let the dating scence/meatmarket/drunken bachelorette party bullshit happen in another place far, far, away from the smiling faces on the floor.
Vision in Chicago is great because there's 3 floors and many differeny rooms, so by 2 am, the dancefloor has cleared away the "assholes" and left a tightknit group of regulars that are there for the talent. But the Chicago clubscene is a different topic altogether.
I'm really glad it's not like twilo, in the sense that there is no competition, but its a wonderful musical experience with - A)Quality 2)Heart d)a steadily growing sense of humor in the air... this is supposed to be FUN too :) But dont get me wrong, I'm all for being serious on the flo when the music tells me that its no laughing matter :)
Sander was so much fun, still bouncy here.... off to dinner!
blah blah blah, twilo shmilo, the holy grail of clubbing eh? if you wanna know where it was really at you should try Renaissance circa 1992 or the Eclipse, if the atmosphere at Twilo was better than that i will eat my own shit, sick of hearing about the place TBH
chem is stuck in 1992.
Well, over here in america where we've got a major bush problem.... I dont think any of the posts are trashing other amazing places, there are sharing great memories between mutual "remembrees". I would love to have been able to have gone to the places of which you speak, but chemical, we arent private messaging you about twilo. Not yet, it hasn't come to that.... has it? ;)
let us pretend we have memories please

No sir, i think you`rew forgetting about the Hacienda. I only did Reanaissance once, great club but nothing i have ever been to since comes anywhere near the vibe that the Hacienda had. R.I.P :(

where bones come to discuss 'back in the day'
Sick night. Anyone remember going outside (freezing btw) and some kids were in a VW Jetta, leaving the parking garage across the street? They rolled down the windows and started blasting Digweed's GU 19 LA - Apollo Vibes to be exact. The crowd just consumed the car and started dancing in the streets. It was pretty surreal. Everyone was completely out of their minds.

I almost started dancing in the deli on saturday morning at 730am because Icould still hear sander pounding it out... Like raver arm swinging dancing... I caught myself at the first arm swing, and indeed upon listening, there was a mean Light FM grooveless tune on, and it was too early to turn the subwoofer up at home on a Saturday AM.
Unless you get home and your only residential neighboor is having their own little afterhours... in which case

HOLY SHIT DUDE I REMEMBER THAT...... and do you guys remember that ambulance ?? friend of mine was freezing and grabbed a blanket from it... all night she was on the dance floor with the blanket and peeps kept walking up to her asking her if she had a baby in her arms....
classic night

24 hour party people.. ever seen it?
Just to get it straight - the fire night is what's on right now Kiss show on June 9, 2001?
no, the one they are discussing says.. Digweed @ Twilo, I believe
it was on yesterday
ARRRGGGHHH! How long was the recorded set?
not sure to be honest.. i was at work whilst it was playing.. these other peeps should know. but from all the buzz about it, i am hoping they will run it again. i miss the old nastiness of diggers
I think people were climbing on cars and trucks parked outside, from what I can remember. It was madness. oh, and the actual fire night was 3/30/01. Digweed played part of it on his next Kiss mix 4/7/01.
Was the whole show played on MS radio? How long is the recording? (not the kiss set, or is there only the kiss set?)
there's only the kiss set

pffft, yeah the "legendary" Hacienda. try Shoom at the Astoria. The Hac wasn't where it all began
....but if you are talking about atmosphere, you will never get better than Club UK
whatever happened to Fabi Paras?
Re: Twilo Fire night on the radio right now....
you are go for cabin depressurization....
the crew has been awake for some time according to the surgeon.
I'm the crew. and goddamn I love the klik klak klik klak beat in apollo vibes something fierce!!!
I went to the first Digweed without Sasha in late 2000 I guess? We were upstairs in the lounge (dont forget how amazing it was up there too kids) Digweed played about 4 hours at the pace of Apollo vibes... DARK DARK sick beats.... slowing a track down to grab the next mixing in at a scary maybe 105 BPM or so... Very strange stuff I had never heard before and needed to hear again desparately... thank god GU:LA had that beat on it to remind me of exactly what I was trying to hold on to...
at about 5am he literally reversed polarity and BAM SLAM hard dark pumping house until 10 or 11 I heard... we had a "fungus issue" that ended at about 8 or so, what a shame... had to leave or collapse at that point

Re: Twilo Fire night on the radio right now....
thanks for the pictures.
i first went to Twilo in 1999 for a s & d night and thats all it took. me and my friends would drive 3 hours from baltimore every month until they shut down. we didnt miss one. greatest club experience ever.
me and my firends are still always telling stories from that place. it's like an old girlfreind we can't get over.
Its more like "this used to be my playground, this used to be the place I ran to, whenever I was in need, of a friend.... why did it have to end? ..........You're not just a memory..."
I sold my soul at Twilo... MANY TIMES. and I'd do it AGAIN I tell you!

are you the guy who wore the oxygen mask??
Only that time my house burned down.... LOL, actually no.... I didnt have a trademark except for my twilo boots. They were really just platform black sketcher sneakers that you could dance forever in, and grow 3 inches with. I did once make a t - shirt to wear to sasha and digweed that simply said:
I'm at Twilo
I wore it all night, and people agreed........ I was
