As part of their 20th anniversary celebrations, [URL="http://www.mercuryserver.com/record-label.aspx?id=271"]Soma Records[/URL] have put together a three-disc label compilation, due for release in September.
Soma Records was founded in 1991 by by Stuart McMillan and Orde Meikle, better known as [URL="http://www.mercuryserver.com/forums/dj-page.aspx?id=233"]Slam[/URL]. It grew out of a club night the duo threw in Glasgow with [url="http://www.mercuryserver.com/forums/djdb.php?id=133"]Dave Clarke[/url], and has since become an institution of underground club music, releasing everything from English techno acts like [url="http://www.mercuryserver.com/forums/djdb.php?id=18"]The Black Dog[/url] to [url="http://www.mercuryserver.com/forums/djdb.php?id=113"]Felix da Housecat[/url] (as Sharkimaxx) and the first few 12-inches by [url="http://www.mercuryserver.com/forums/djdb.php?id=313"]Daft Punk[/url]. [I]Soma Records - 20 Years[/I] provides a three-disc cross-section of the label's catalog, which by now packs in well over 200 releases. The first disc presents 11 unmixed "Classics," such as [url="http://www.mercuryserver.com/forums/djdb.php?id=40"]Funk D'Void[/url]'s "Diabla" and Slam's "Positive Eduction." The next two discs are mixed, first by Slam, then by the label's other key duo, [URL="http://www.mercuryserver.com/dj-page.aspx?id=879"]Silicone Soul[/URL].
