I only collect live and dj sets i think i have about 15,000 sets or 3 terabytes. But i also have access to various sites that archives sets. Anyway many, many, many.

That's a lot of music. :shock: Most of mine are live and Dj sets as well . I prefer them to albums, although I buy really good albums. :D I also use other sites :)

527 GB

99 percent of which is Electronic. Of that 99 per cent, 65 per cent would be livesets & mixes, 30 per cent Albums, & 5 per cent Singles.

I try and index & organize the bulk of my music, a touch of OCD you could say! LOL!

My wife and I are just about to have our first child, and I have to admit I’ve caught myself imagining them (boy or girl!) going through my “collection” and getting a deeper insight into who I am through my passion for this stuff. ..

I have lots of original and copied cds, and many Gigas of mp3. But I was thinking, you can have all the music in the world in your house, but you won´t have time to listen to it... I like to take a "deep listen" to the music... I love to listen to the sounds, the layers, and the effects used in the production. If I don´t like very very much an album or an artist, I don´t buy it or download it

There are not enough hours in the day. Unfortunately nowadays you really have to be selective with what you pick up / listen to because of the massive amount of choice out there. I did find that once I really got into production I started listening to less music as it is really fatiguing listening to loads of tracks after a good multi hour session in the studio.

This thread just made me check - and finally realise - I must have spent most of the last 10 years downloading mp3s!

Its around the 1.6TB at the moment - in mp3's alone. Not sure how that happened.... the vast majority of which is totally legal too. (radio broadcasts and the like)

As for CD's, I reckon about 300 (I have purchased) and maybe a few cheeky copies on top from my mates. My most treasured music is my collection of hard house/trance and old school on audio cassettes though. I keep meaning to back them up somehow and hence preserve them in case something happens, as they are as rare as hen's teeth now.

My vinyl collection is about 70 'albums' and ~ 100 singles, these are all 80's and 90's pop though. Except for a few Beatles albums my old man used own. ahem.

all i can say is that one life time is not enough to listen to each mix or track or song at least once, too bad tho, but i dont see myself not searching for new mixes all the time, theres so many amazing djs out there + theres other music besides edm, so whatever comes on my schedule i appreciate it and enjoy the moment

I've been listening to Houe music in whatever form since 1988 traversing different genres along the way.... first tape was House Hits 88 (MC Duke, Yazz, S -Express) I was an ardent fan of tapes when you could buy tapes and CDs in a record store.

Current amount of music on my PC is around 320Gb, but that doesn't include any of the:-

mix tapes that I created over the years - 300 (TDK 90/120s) CD albums (legally bought) -100 tape albums bought - 200

I wouldn't like to think what amount of *Gb/Tb it would be if I ripped the tapes to MP3 which I am about to do!!!!

My music map contains nowadays 517GB music. Besides my digital collection I've got +- 500 cd's and some vinyl. I have to admit that I've got to much crap and I wan't to sell a lot of cd's and delete some digital shit. The only problem is: "how much time do I have ? " and that's less. Maybe I just need to take 2 weeks off to search through the whole collection for music I want and music I don't want anymore.

that´s a great idea. Last year I did it... I sold lots of cds I wouldn´t listen to any more. I remember NOFX´s and other punk bands.. and better than selling them, I made some exchanges. It was good... but you need time to do it

It'd take several, semi-nomal lifetimes. The EM and Kiss 100 collections alone are hundreds of GB, if you think about it.

Hoarding is what you do when you grab whatever is out there, with no rhyme or reason.

I collect Essential Mixes, RA podcasts, all mixes by selected djs, Digweed's shows from ms. Plus my Beatport and Juno folders. That alone is several GB.

Its like baseball cards. I wish I had every kiss100 show nicely id3'd, organized and sorted. My DJ mp3 directory is a freaking mess. It would take a ton of work to get that up to the way I'd like.

I'm all about digital hoarding. Why delete it?

I like to go back into the archives of Digger's show and pull up some random file and see if there's anything on there I missed or find something that speaks to me now when maybe it didn't before.

Significant time has passed in life since I've listened to a lot of those old mixes, sometimes they sound different to me now compared to me of 4, 5 or 7 years ago.

^Yup for sure. Someone yesterday mentioned GPal BESTFM and Smirnoff Experience mixes from 2006...I've got a ton of those and have been lsitening to some at work today, great old stuff. Thats why I like keeping everything from artists I like to because of this.

Especially with the price of HD storage these days. If you can keep your stuff organized enough, then it's nice to be able to go back in time a bit and check out your old favorites. Using the star ratings on iTunes is good for this...
