I know we have covered this in years past, but I am curious to find out if those numbers have gone up in recent years or gone down?
So what can a dj make in one night? Of course it probably depends on the size of the club, the location, the night/event, etc.

I would also like to mention that as an artist myself, I fully realize that money is not the driving factor in why dj's do what they do. :) I am sure artistic expression, happiness, excitement and having an otherwise very interesting and unique life experience is what counts :).

well... I got offered 180£ for 5 hour sets in a bar in London about 18 months ago...and I got paid 30 euro per night for 3 hours sets in Belgrade in some bar...about 3 years ago...

Couple of years ago, i think mid 2009 or so, someone trusty told me that [url="http://www.mercuryserver.com/forums/djdb.php?id=153"]Luke Fair[/url] earn 3000 euros for a 3 to 4 hours mix.. Not bad at all if you consider 2 to 3 shows per week
I assume legends like Sasha, Warren, Diggers or Hernan earns more than this

I reckon fees have gone down considerably in the last 10 years. I remember going to Gatecrasher for Oakenfold back in 1999 the venue was rammed and there where still about 2,000 people outside. I remember similar scenes outside Turnmills, Cream Gods Kitchen, Renaissance etc. I haven't seen anything like that since 2001

I imagine digs makes anywhere between 5k and 40 k per gig depending on venue, crowd capacity ect.

The economic financial melt down has meant [MS] had to cut the moderators wages so I opted to go as I have had a large financial wind fall.

Depending on what you said plus I know sometimes Djs will drop the fee considerably for a particularly loyal fan base. In Australia, because to come here is a major trip, they are usually paid per tour rather than per gig. The cost is spread out over the tour with the bigger cities /gigs paying the bulk .
One thing, trance Djs always get far more money, or in fact any really mainsteam Dj .
Chunky, I believe Hernan and Nick, would be paid more that 3000 euros for a good club gig. ;)

I read a note of oakenfold from that era, paid him 20.000 for each presentation and 50.000 for each compiled. this was the golden age of oakenfold, now must be different.
If I remember correctly, the magazine was Ministry from 2000.

Yeah if you're talking in Dollars, he was getting £10,000 for a gig and about £25,000 for a mix comp, we was only getting around £7,500 from Home when he was resident, due to the fact he was been block booked (£300,000 for 40 gigs)

Red Faced Steve who does the saturday night in the Peacock near me says he gets £50. Between you and me though, it's more like £60 - plus i think he gets 2 free pints as well.

I'd say that running a record label and making music don't earn you the bucks these days - breaking even is pretty good for a label given the degree of file sharing and I'd doubt that the sales for producers pay a decent rate for the amount of hours put in.
This is why I always try to promote the producers and labels whose music I love ... otherwise they could decide it's just not worth it.
The money is in the DJ fees, but surely some of these must be more balanced in the current economic climate when clubs must be struggling to fill themselves each week. After paying 50% tax it makes you wonder what the final take home salary is.
