Hi all Is it possible to donate (via Paypal?) to Steve James funeral (etc) costs?

I am not in the US but will happily donate - if many people donate, it could really help his family out.

Re: Steve James Funeral Fund?

I know that there are plans in the works to do something of this sort, although probably not paying for his funeral costs specifically. You can expect details to come out in the upcoming days, I suspect.

Re: Steve James Funeral Fund?

A PayPal donation account is easy to setup ;)

Re: Steve James Funeral Fund?

^^Who gets, and distributes the money is not easy with that method..To avoid fights and arguments, or possible legal issues, I still think that it is best to let the family choose a cause to donate directly to...Just my opinion though...

We all donate to a fund and the family gets to decide what to do with it - as a gift from the [ms] community. Just a thought. A Paypal donation fund encourages lots of donations in a singular effort.

Re: Steve James Funeral Fund?

I already looked into setting up an account with a bank...Read my previous post in this thread about it...

A PayPal donation account does not need a bank account set up for that purpose. It's easy to set up but would be for something for the closer friends to do..

It would just deposit the money into a personal account of a trusted friend and this can be transferred to the family.

Re: Steve James Funeral Fund?

^^^So, who would manage this account? All I'm trying to say is that we do not need to burden Steve's family with any of this. The polite thing to do..... Like I said, it would be more polite to donate to a charity of THEIR choice.

Re: Steve James Funeral Fund?

I spoke to Steve's mother about this yesterday since it was brought up to me locally and via internet PMs.

She would appreciate if some sort of fund/account/monies be donated as a whole in his name at your choosing...a few suggestions were Suicide Prevention group or organization, Depression Counseling/Help organization, Music Cares charity. His direct family and relatives are taking care of the funeral expenses and arrangements through a close friend that runs a funeral company in Port Charlotte, FL. I believe Kamal and someone else is working on this.

Re: Steve James Funeral Fund?

there are a few items in discussion, we will post more details as they become aware. We will be donating to a charity (we have narrowed one down and will post more details on it).

[ms] itself will start a Steve James Program (will reveal name and further details in a bit).

Please bear with us as a lot of us are still on a road to recovery.....

This sounds promising ...8) Would be great if we could have an indicator of the total amount donated on [ms] too...

^^Dj Nutcase.....No offense, but you are being a nutcase. These are donations, not a race to fund and/or cure world hunger..Donations should be private.

Well I gotta live up to my name. . .no? :-)

But seriously, I agree with what you're saying. I meant an indication of the total amount raised by the [ms] community, not the amount raised by each user.
