I found some of Ralph Goings paintings to be unbelievable. I know its "realist" painting and is supposed to look this good, but damn...he uses all different types of paints, oils, watercolor, etc.

Now Francis Bacon is a great painter, but this guy is just another in a long line of hypperrealist painters out there today. I'd rather spend time looking at something else than these paintings. Paintings like this have no real substance.

Go check out Mark Rothko, Jackson Pollock, Franz Kline, DeKooning, Frank Stella, Agnes Martin, Simon Hantai, Joseph Marioni, Brice Marden. These are painters of substance.

someone that can make a painting that real deserves credit. substance? not all paintings require in depth analogies or abstract meaning... sometimes to marvel at the skill and patience involved in such work is enough. kudos to him.

There is some real talent here, def give the man props for creating something as close to a still life as you can get.

I am a very hard man to please. Especially when it comes to Art. I am very passionate about my tastes in art, and I don't like looking at a painting that is just a representation of a photograph. There are tons of painters that have done stuff like this in the past and it is nothing new. If I wanted to look at realistic paintings, I'll go look at ones that are 150 years old.

Lrn. Hey bro you should check out Rauschenberg if you're looking at finding beauty in everyday things. One of his philosophies was that you can find more interesting things on the way to the museum, thank you can actually find IN the museum.

you are. it doesn't take a whole lot of "talent" to be able to make a copy of a photograph. I've got a friend that could teach you how to do that in a matter of 2-3 months.

Anyone can be taught how to make paintings, then it's just up to you to put some imagination into it to come up with something that is clearly your own.
