Re: Illustrator!
Bleeding space? Depends on which carrier you print it...normal posters can usually so with a mac of 5 mm bleeding, businesscards shouldn't need more than 2 actually. So it also depends a bit on the size I guess.
As for the master: I'm pretty handy with Illustrator and Fireworks/Imageready, and can do some abstract 3D renders in Cinema, but I've decided to try and master Photoshop inside out since somehow people think it's the shit, especially in the graphics industry. You can do an awful lot with it, but for some reason even the most elementatry shit that takes me 10 secs in illustrator is nearly impossible in PS, so I think I still have enough to learn too. It'll take me a few weeks to bring my skills up to the illy level, it's mostly finding what is hidden where in the program.
But I just completely resent the fact that Adobe deemed it necessary to put the similar or same functions in different places in the programs, not to mention the fact that the conditionalities for applyig them also differ in places. This makes it unnecessarily hard to work with them at times, and can be extremely frustrating. A little example: why not have a pathfinder in PS like Illy has? Why make that different again? There's probably a reason for it, but I don't know it...
