Really increadible reading about the pieces and just analyzing them...anyone else fascinated by Dali?
[]Legends abound that during his later years, he would take his students/disciples to fine restaurants and would order lavish banquets. When the bill arrived, Dali would write out a check, but before signing it, would draw a piece of original artwork on the back of the check as the waiter watched. The owner of the restaurant, knowing that he was in possession of a Dali original, would never cash the check. He's like the Beethoven of Cubism/Surrealism (prob. not but sounds good). Glad I could introduce you. I know you've seen his more popular paintings/drawings such as this one:

Re: Salvador Felipe Jacinto Dal? Dom?nech Paintings*

The real life size of these paintings are much bigger...you really have to see them in their original size, these smaller prints don't allow you to see whats going on very well...There's a fair amount of debate on whether he was "genius" or what his deal was...

Re: Salvador Felipe Jacinto Dal? Dom?nech Paintings*

The Dali Musum is a cool place, if you get a chance definitely check it out. Dali has some crazy stuff. I like his paintings that have the animials like elphants with these long skinny legs.

Thanks for the info on RITM, I did not know that. May just have to check them out. They put on a kickass show.

We are big art buffs in my family, and Dali is one of our favourites. My dad owns this print with Dali's actual signature on the print. The print is #'d and insured for a nice chunk of change

Re: Salvador Felipe Jacinto Dal? Dom?nech Paintings*

I don't know the first thing about art interpretation but Dalí definitely made me interested in learning. I always liked Swans Reflecting Elephants, there's just so much going on that you can lost just looking at it. I came across a large print my freshman year at college at one of those little art sales they set up on the quad to sell all sorts of banners, flags, posters, incense and other hippie crap. Bought it on the spot and still have it to this day.

Dali is my favorite artist of all time. The museum is awesome!! been there a few times...and yes, some of the paintings are wall size, with couch's set up so you can sit and get lost in them.. The Hallucinogenic Toreador is epic in person....so big and so much to look at! if you havent been, go!
