#358014Post 7 of 24

and yeah, expensive is the word. but i bought the exteneded warranty over the phone. all parts, all software as well. 5 years.

#358018Post 8 of 24

Rip off. Alienware is overpriced.

Don't get me wrong, I cream myself over Alienware computers. I just don't have the money for one. I do like the AMD/ATI combo. If there's one thing I hate more than NVidia, it's Intel.

**EDIT

I like how you don't have wireless anything. Wireless sucks balls. I mean, what happened to data security? I could use my transistor radio to watch your porn! And don't get me started on wireless input. What happens when your mouse runs out of batteries in the middle of a game? Props to you on getting the oldskool input devices.

#358028Post 9 of 24

Most wireless mice would warn you for at least an hour before they completely die.

Alienware PC's are overpriced. Selling a 2005 Gamer PC with a ATI RADEON? 9550SE 128MB is just a joke as there are already 2 newer generations of graphic cards from ATI available and the card does not suit such a PC....kinda like driving a Porsche with a Gremlin motor in it...next time you look for a Gamer PC, ask on MercuryEngine and you will be sorted out with the Hardware you need and then you can order it in a store where they build it together for you and you will save at least 500 bucks.

#358115Post 12 of 24

I agree...

You can take advantage of some great deals out there using rebates.

I got a free mobo out of it...$60 for a 200GB Seagate HD, etc...

Just wait for the WindowsXP64 official release in march. I'm not running Microsoft Beta anything.

#358200Post 14 of 24

i woudlnt install any pre-release software that microsoft puts out. not unless you want to seriously jack up your system... hell, even their GM software is not safe to install on any machine.

What are you talking about? We all know an "Official Release" from Microsoft is really just the Beta release anyways - when the SP1 comes out, that's the final release. :)

#358210Post 16 of 24

more like SP4...

#358214Post 17 of 24

i never hesitate to try beta products from Microsoft or anyone else and can honesly say they never cause me any grief except maybe the odd bug or 2, nothing major.

That's what i thought too. The sell it under Gaming PC...what the heck. A ATI Radeon 9550SE is a low budget graphic card.

I only want the Case.

i got the AMD Athlon? 64 FX-55 Processor and Radeon 9700 coming on the side for me ina trade-up. my companys computer guy is doing me a favor cause i got him some xtra business on the side from one of our clients :D

its gonna work out. he told me not to buy them from the company.

i guess my Athlon 2800+ which i paid ?140 squid for is a bit dated now :x i have an ASUS A7N8X deluxe with 512 mb ddr333, if i go for a 64 bit processor, do i need a new board & RAM?

#361008Post 21 of 24

you need a new board, that's for sure.

about the ram, you can use the one you've got, but it is recommended you get some ddr400 instead.

I dunno... there's not a whole lot of games / programs that really stress 64-bit processors or some of the better vid. cards... let alone make the diff. between ddr330 and 400 noticable. An upgrade to better DDR or new mobo/different kind of RAM or PCI 16x support would be simple down the line when you'd actually need them. I don't know why you'd spend the $$$ on a five year warranty, though sightless... does it have special implications with upgrades or something? You're going to want better parts in 2 years tops.
