Who's getting it?

#1475872Post 2 of 25

Re: iPad2

Nope. I don't get the point of the whole tablet thing, iPad or other. Not featured enough to be a laptop replacement. Too big to be really portable. Wrong screen size to watch movies on, and even if you did you'd soon get tired of hold the display, or the angle you have it at or the sun on the screen

Just a toy, nothing more. An expensive one at that. I'd rather get an iPod Touch.

Re: iPad2

It is just a toy, but it is a toy that ABSOLUTELY FUCKING RULES, lol.

If I didn't already have one, I'd be on my way to the store to get one now. As it stands, the new one looks incredible, but not enough of an upgrade to justify getting another...

this is the reason I wanna get it. I have a 4.3" HTC desire HD and even though the browsing/surfing/app/you tube experience on it is good, it's a constant juggle between portrait and landscape mode. This is where I feel the slightly larger (7" - 10") tablets will shine. Not to mention that you can't get just a data sim card to use for the smaller devices (my HTC is my second phone) but you could get a data only sim card/plan for as little as $15/month making it versatile on the move.

Nearly every marketing/sales presentation i've sat through/been a part of in the last two months has been run by an Ipad. They're extremely valuable in that regard, and I can't wait to get my hands on one. In the medical industry, i'm already starting to see them pop up everywhere. I know of a few surgery centers that are implementing them for nursing logs. A sound company here in town that runs turbo sound for concerts etc is implementing them so you can walk and sit in each seat and listen and adjust speakers. Possibilities are crazy for this thing. If you think it's just a toy, you're not thinking about its possible uses very hard. Can a laptop do all of these things already? Sure, but they're way more cumbersome. It's all about the interface with the ipad.

Re: iPad2

bleh. for the things jenks mentioned above for sure, but not for me. i need to be able to still type very quickly and want a real OS underneath that i can do what i want.

i just bought a dell inspiron 19 netbook for 250$. smaller than a magazine and super low power. i love it.

Sorry, I forgot to mention in that post that I could see it having good and meaningful applications in the business world. It's for your average home user where its an overpriced boys toy.

Re: iPad2

Business yes - Hospitals, Restaurants, Tradesmen, etc. Can definitely make use of it, but for personal use, I seriously do not see the point in one. Laptop or nothing for me. I always see the trendy fashionable kids at uni try and use one during lectures. FAIL as they're too slow in typing to keep up with it all. Makes me laugh.

Re: iPad2

I've seen people bring it to the gym :lol::lol::lol:

I honestly don't see any personal use for it besides watching a video or surfing the net in the toilet. Ok I bring my laptop with me to the toilet at home so an iPad would make pooping more convenient.

Re: iPad2

Did you see that Garage Band app? Having messed with audio software in the past, that thing is just wicked.

Re: iPad2

It's simple really, if you have the money, the ipad is a convenience that mac users will find uses for. Mac will continue to create more and more uses for the Ipad and eventually it will become more and more popular. :)

I think the screen is too small personally. But if I needed the ipad for something work-related I would buy one. They are great for example for carrying around your script digitally.

Re: iPad2

^I do a lot of marketing presentations to 2-3 people. I can sit on one side and hold the ipad facing them and just fling through power point slides as I talk. Such a great sales tool integrated so easily.
