So the CRTC just passed through some rules for Usage Based Billing (UBB). This basically gives the big players power to set all prices for resellers and eliminates any possibility of competitive pricing. Unlimited bandwidth has suddenly become extinct and caps have been reduced from 200 Gb to 25 Gb. I think this is what is known as 'progress'

OTTAWA—The CRTC’s controversial decision to substantially increase Internet costs to Canadians will be reversed, the Toronto Star has learned. “The CRTC should be under no illusion — the Prime Minister and minister of Industry will reverse this decision unless the CRTC does it itself,” a senior Conservative government official said Wednesday.

Yeah, seems people are kicking up a fuss, quelle surprise!

The sooner things get sorted, the sooner I can stop doing all my 'downloading' at Timmy's, or on the unsecured wireless of government buildings
