I'm actually finding it a really pleasant experience. Love their front pages. :D You can do a much more specific search . For instance I just did a video seach /tv shows on The Martian Chronicles and nearly all of it was relevant. I'm impressed. !! Great for looking for music videos. :D

Re: Anyone using Bing??

Bing is run by massive retards. Tried running ads on there...5x the price of google for 25% of the traffic. And now Jamie at microsoft's adcenter won't stop emailing/calling me and telling me to run different KWs to keep the bid prices down. ug. fuck you microsoft/bing. They totally fucked up yahoo advertising with their adcenter shit, too.

sorry, had to get that out....

Re: Anyone using Bing??

I stop using IE because of Bing.... tbh i thought it was a spam or something , but fuck that !!Firefox all the way. :D a lot more secure , faster and spyware free.

I just hate IE , the only reason i have it is for windows update.

IE9 might change people's perceptions on that.

Re: Anyone using Bing??

I use Safari most of the time , faster than all of them. :) Bing works well with it. :) Firefox sometimes.

Re: Anyone using Bing??

I have Bing booked in my toolbar just so I can see the picture of the day. They really do have some amazing shots, but I use Google for everything else. Love the live search on Google now- search results change as you type. awesome.

On some TV show the other week one character said they were going to 'bing' something. Sounded a little odd.

You only just got over IE? Wow.

I'm a massive advocate for Chrome. It's by far the fastest browser out there. Noticeably faster.

It's minimalist approach is also refreshing. Google are dominating.

#1446174Post 14 of 43

Re: Anyone using Bing??

^^No i stopped using IE for like 3-4 years now..

I agree chrome is obviously more faster than the rest....but FF has alot more customizable features imo.

A very essential FF extension is the adblock , whereas Chrome has one but not really functional.

Plus call me paranoid but i don't trust Google products :D

What happened to Netscape navigator btw ?

I used it and found the speed better than Firefox but not noticeably faster than Chrome. The design is cringe-worthy though. I know it may seem similar to Chrome, but when using it I found cluttered and too 'busy'

x2. i just uninstalled chrome the other day. had been using it for...two years? something like that. went to check out opera, and i like it, but it looked hideous and was very unnatural to me in using it. so now i'm back to firefox...and loving it.

also, i'm starting to use bing more often. i've got no beef with any computer company except apple. they're techno-facists over there.

#1453605Post 18 of 43

Re: Anyone using Bing??

Hideous? Don't all browsers look the same these days? A button and a row of tabs... Have been using Opera for maybe ten years so guess I'm just used to how it works and looks.

In other news, today I got irked with google giving fewer and less useful results, so have started a trial period with bing as default. How exciting!

Re: Anyone using Bing??

This is why Bing sucks:

Microsoft's Bing uses Google search results - and denies it:

#1459469Post 20 of 43

Re: Anyone using Bing??

^ so wait....

...if you get the same search results, but without having google index your searches on their servers....that's a good thing, no?

#1459475Post 21 of 43

Re: Anyone using Bing??

not when your engineers can't optimize your engine enough to return as relevant results, so you just borrow the competitions results and pass them off as your own.

#1459620Post 22 of 43

Re: Anyone using Bing??

^ google doesn't own what users click on, do they? at best, google provides results of a list of links. bing, apparently, is basing their search engine not on google's search results themselves, but what google users click on --> which to me seems like they're not stealing.

i see nothing wrong with this.

#1459632Post 23 of 43

Re: Anyone using Bing??

yeah the bing toolbar or IE8 apparently is sending back to bing users clickthru data on google.com and adding it to their index. but what is cheezy as you can see from the blogpost the search -> results are nonsense, so their index really isn't getting better in these cases, so pretty dumb. write better kodez.

#1459729Post 24 of 43

Re: Anyone using Bing??

I'm going to write a [ms] DJ Database toolbar that will let you automatically submit a new artist to our database through a single click. I'll also have it index every post of every other forum that you visit behind the scenes and automatically insert those posts into [ms] as legitimate content under fake usernames so we can stay competitive with current discussions on other EDM forums.

Where will those be inserted?

I should have someone write me a bot to spam the tool bar and bomb Bing's rankings...

#1462639Post 27 of 43

Re: Anyone using Bing??

It's an interesting scene. I've used Bing a few times out of interest, and to be honest, it seems really good! But ultimately what does it offer me that is different to Google? Basically nothing.

People are accustomed to using Google and if Bing has nothing unique to offer (of value) then why would anyone change? Unless they obtain a strong hold on something like Windows Phone 7 where a large user base utilizes Bing as part of it's built in functionality... it's pretty much going to be impossible to touch Google without them making some sort of mega f**k up which causes user backlash.

The only unique take on a search engine I've seen is www.wolframalpha.com. This is cool but of course not a replacement for a traditional serach engine.

Re: Anyone using Bing??

Google: simple, plain, straightforward, shit load of ads Bing: Nancy-boy looking, does what Google does. Suppositively better (visually)?

End of the day it’s just a search engine right? Searched poodle. Google: About 15,500,000 results (0.06 seconds) Bing: 1-10 of 5,840,000 results (same speed)

Google=FTW!

Firefox= FTW!

And that's my point of view. That will be all.

Re: Anyone using Bing??

Just use what suits your machine best....i use IE7 on my laptop and i can't be bothered with any other Browser..Used GC running Win7 and every time i opened GC it slowed down my computer..same with firefox. Unlike my desktop though which is running Xp im using Firefox and it's running perfect.

Re: Anyone using Bing??

This is still going ?? I like Bing, firstly for the pretty pictures  But mainly because it gives me less results but more that are relevant for me .I don't have to sift through as much crap:lol: Of course that will change with whatever you are asking for. And will probably change if they get more popular :(

Re: Anyone using Bing??

hey to each her own :) whatever works for you go for it imo. i happen to like goog since it integrates all my stuff i love the most: (email/calendar/search history/phone) etc with my phone and everything else and the ui is clean and polished. i happen to be a geek so this is my choice. if something else comes up and usurps the powa then good for it. thats capitalism in action. (but dont say that in the Politics forum). all websites should be by the people, for the people, and unequivocally equal. :)

Thing I like about Bing is that I can do a search and not have related targeted ads pop up for the next three months.

Re: Anyone using Bing??

I guess ultimately since I've been using Gmail since 1999 I won't be changing in the foreseeable future. I registered my name first and last name and first middle and last name with gmail around that time because my name is common and I knew it would go quick. Kind of geeky I suppose. Just depends on what's cool where you live really. Computers are a big deal in California since most every internet related company is based there.

Re: Anyone using Bing??

Bing is great for the maps that either Google Street View didn't get yet, or just for the bird's eye for a general analysis of the area.

Being in real estate, I look up a lot of subject properties...so I use it for that extensively. Great alternative/2nd choice...IMO there's never "just one thing" to use anymore...
