Could this be a DMA issue?

System: Asus P5W Dh Deluxe (2801 BIOS) Windows 7 x64 Pro

Got an issue with this system where the system will lock up or be very unresponsive, only lasts less than a second I reckon, but it happens quite often. I'm figuring it's a DMA issue. The devices' controller settings don't show up in Device Manager but can be seen on Intel Matrix Storage Manager. Drive 1 - system drive - says it's running on SATA transfer mode Generation 2 and Drive 2 - 2TB Samsung - says its on SATA transfer mode Generation 1. Is there anywhere I can check that they are actually running at those speeds?
