well, the ever looming possibility of adding another scar to the body is upon me. looks like i might be having ACL surgery..... :( so i really need some games/books to keep me busy....books already taken care of.

thankfully my buddy is manager of gamestop and is extending his ""rental rights" to me.

anybody got recco's for either PS2 or XBOX, i just got mercenaries and im a SOCOM online phanatic.

i really was considering world of warcraft from its reviews. anyone play it??? / whats it like/ fun factor/ replay value etc. more importantly, does it take awhile to play, b/c if i play another video game i can beat in a week(fable) im gonna be killing myself.

either post here of drop a PM, thanks in advance.---seansightless

Re: ok, to all the video game freaks....

sorry about the acl. i've had the surgery and it just sucks. at least you get some vicodin. :Bingo:

i'm addicted to gta san andreas right now. pretty much the best game there is. it may take your entire recovery period to finish it too.

read, "Last Night a DJ Save My Life" by Bill Brewster and Frank Broughton, is the complete history of the dj from northern soul, reggie hip hop disco and house, im about half way though it i had to stop becuase im so swamped with school work....

#341896Post 4 of 33

i play WoW and i like it, but i'm a casual player now....if you're into the whole mmorpg thing, you'll enjoy it. a book i would recommend is Food of the Gods: A Radical History of Plants, Drugs, and Human Evolution by Terence McKenna. And then there's always Half Life 2 with Counterstrike Source.

GRAND THEFT AUTO SAN ANDREAS!

Best money you'll ever spend in your life. :Respect:

#341910Post 7 of 33

Get yourself a Gamecube and Resident Evil 4. It's probably the best game I've ever played!! And believe me, I don't say that often. I haven't enjoyed a video game this much since Half-Life, Soul Calibur or Metal Gear Solid 1    I'm a huge Resident Evil fan, but I never thought that a RE game would be good enough to top those 3. This game was totally worth the Cube alone.

For Xbox games, Burnout 3; Halo 2 (if u dont have it yet); Star Wars - KOTOR.

For PS2: you only need 1 game, really. And thats Metal Gear Solid 3.

i have beaten GTA S.A., i didnt like Halo2.(socom2 was better for my tastes.)

and good looking on the books. i finally picked up rainbow six(i heard good things. plz dont spoil it).

and thanks again. ---peace

#344636Post 9 of 33

did you get 100% on SA? Beating it only accounts for like 50% of the game... there's a helluva lot more to do than the storylines

#344642Post 10 of 33

i stopped playing it at 94%. never did the importing/exporting and missed about 10 clam shells.

#344651Post 11 of 33

Burnout 3 is really fun and you don't have to dedicate an hour to play it

#344657Post 12 of 33

metal gear 3 is good, but won't last more than a week or so....

i'd give WoW a shot, those online games are huge timesinks

#344712Post 13 of 33

thats exactly the word "timesink", but still must entertain.

granted i plan on sleeping a lot, but a month of being house-bound and not being able to drive(yeah right leg) just kills me.

on a funnier note. i ordered 270 bucks of records last night, knowing i would be stuck.

#344730Post 14 of 33

hope your record tables are hadicapped-accessible

#344778Post 15 of 33

you should check out tom clancy's rainbow six: black arrow, or even Ghost Recon 2 if you like the socom type of games, and both are live in enabled on the xbox for all your internet enjoyment.

#344784Post 16 of 33

i am actually reading rainbow 6 right now, just started it monday afternoon on the train, i never got into those books, but always heard great things. that guy knows his shit about the military. even threw out true facts about the advanced intelligance forces that oeprate outta fort bragg.

#344810Post 17 of 33

nice to see someone planning ahead...

get yourself an xbox... swap the hard drive for a larger one... install a mod chip and install all your rental games to the hd... the only downside is the inability to play xboxlive... an additional plus is you can install emulators so you can replay all your old roms from atari to nintendo to sega genesis... sometimes the older games are the most fun

as for xbox games i wouldn't recommend any real time strategy games like war craft... those are much better on the pc... i would recommend fifa, mvp baseball, both halos...

good luck with the bedsores

#344812Post 18 of 33

for some reason, i hated halo2. dunno why, but SOCOM is so much better......i guess its b/c it requires strategy.

and ill throw out a book recco.

"god is a bullet" by boston tehran.
general: a very dark, at times sickly violent, murder mystery. excellent read. 8) very read-able style as well.

#344828Post 19 of 33

Cool topic!!!I like it!!Many thanks!!!

if you like racing, need for speed underground 2 is hella fun (if you dig the fast and furious vibe)

metal gear solid 3 was awesome but its only about 12 hours long

WoW could suck away every available hour for you for at least a few months depending how addicted you get

if you dig rpg's then you might try any of the final fantasy's that you haven't played (7-10) or final fantasy tactics

ghost recon 2 for xbox is pretty sweet as well

:D

Re: ok, to all the video game freaks....

Console - Can't really say because I don't have one. you said you already beat San Andreas and didn't like Halo 2, which would have been my recomendations. Of course there is there is always the ultimate time waster..Madden 2005. If you like football, that is.

PC- Geez...Where to start??? I'm sure as you know from mine and the others rantings that you can't go wrong with Half-Life 2 and Counter-Strike:Source. If you like strategy games check out Rome: Total War or Warhammer 40,000. The Sims 2 is tight, as is Roller Coaster Tycoon 2, on the simulation front. Manhunt, Thief 2, Hitman 3, Rise of Nations and the new Splinter Cell are all games I've loved within the past year.

Book - I usually only read magazines, so I can't help much on this one.

Take it light and get well soon.

Don't have one game u mentioned. I received my Sony PSP two days ago with Ridge Racer. This Thing is sooooo awesome. A shame no one has it yet in germany. We could play Multiplayer up to 12 people over Wi-Fi.

#346242Post 26 of 33

Re: ok, to all the video game freaks....

battefield 2 and ghost recon 2 will be out in either feb or march....both will be quality games. ;)

#346273Post 27 of 33

^^^ Battlefield 2 looks like it's gonna rewrite the books. Everything I've seen looks amazing.

BTW why aren't you on the CS server? It's up and running and everything seems in order. Pings are good, framerates are good...get going.
