Anyone have any suggestions... there are quite a few out there, but nothing that works just right. So far I've tried PingChat and KiK messenger, both of which you have to create new ID's or your contact has to sign up as well.

Is anyone using an app that just works?

I was going to suggest ping chat, when i first installed it it was very reliable, then they released an update and it works fine now with all the people i use it with, thats across the Android, BB and iphone platforms.

I just installed Kik today on my new android phone. I think they just came out with v2 of the software. You create a username and can tell people, but when I first signed in it knew about 10 of my friends who were already on there and I didn't have to troll around asking for usernames. It scanned my phonebook I think and looked for matches, so it was pretty easy. Been using it today for the first time and it seems pretty cool. Nice and fast, I just dont want it to be killing my battery which is already bad.

This has already been kickbanned from the blackberry app store, and just today RIM is suing Kik for patent infringement.

They ain't screwin' around. Kik had about 1 million users one week after launch, I bet this company is going to be toast within a year now.
