If you liked Fallout 3 you'll be sure to like this. About another million quests to do, this time set in the desert and city of Las Vegas. Its essentialy the same game at its core, and might be better view as a massive ad on to Fall Out 3. There are a couple of new elements to the game play, primarily factions (Think Steven King's the Stand). It will definitely suck up your time if you enjoy this type of game and the sheer amount of content makes it worth the retail price.

Any other thoughts?

Re: Fall Out: New Vegas

I bought Fallout 3 last Xmas and frankly was disappointed. It was slow, not much was happening and I ended up selling it on eBay.

However, like a sucker, the ads for this have got me interested!! May pick it up one day if the price is right

Re: Fall Out: New Vegas

I did the same as greg. Bought it, wandered around the abyss getting mauled by rad roaches and then got a mad case of cbf. It felt like an MMORPG style grind with tacky gimics and no pvp. Maybe im just over games

Re: Fall Out: New Vegas

I have the Game at home but the package is still sealed. This will help me through Winter times for sure. I heard it is more of the same but since I love to explore open Worlds and had fun with Fallout 3, I am sure I will have fun with Vegas too. I heard they left the huge tunnel systems out this time...which is a good decision imo. The tunnels in Fallout 3 were all the same and it took forever to find out the new one has not a single secret or anything worthy to visit it lol. The only thing I did not like about Fallout 3 was that there was a good chance to skip parts of the main story if you were like me wandering around in the World stumbling about characters or events I shouln't have seen at that stage. I hope in Vegas this doesn't happen. Can't be that hard to place the main story relevant NPC in a room or area you don't have access to yet or to add a dialouge option AFTER a story event has happened and not before.

Re: Fall Out: New Vegas

^ as far as I can tell, I haven't had the problem yet. I have definitely come across characters that seemed to have no purpose at first, but then had a role later on in the game that became unlocked as I progressed.

Re: Fall Out: New Vegas

Ok boys whats the deal with this game?

It came out about 4 weeks ago yeah? It was £39.99 here in the UK at that point. It is now just £17.99 on play.com! There is one customer review on there saying dont buy it as it has glitches and problems all over the place?

I just cant believe a game can drop in price so quickly? Especially a game that has historically good reviews?

Re: Fall Out: New Vegas

Still have it sealed on my shelf..can't tell how buggy it is. I hope when I come to it in 2011, the toughest bugs are out.

Re: Fall Out: New Vegas

Review on gamespot was 7.5 and they mentioned that after a while the bugs get too annoying to actually enjoy the game

Re: Fall Out: New Vegas

I think I am 50% through with it and I mean 50% of exploring the entire World and not the Main plot only. There are some horrid translation errors in the German version lol and there have been only a few minor bugs so far besides one plotstopper. I do not know what happened but suddenly the Game had forgotten my reputation stats for some of the Clans/Fractions and some of them started attacking me by sight haha. Only solution was an earlier Save where everything was fine. Save often, save early and keep Savegames is important for Fallout NV but it didn't stop me from playing and enjoying it so far. But just for the records, I play it on the PC, not on consoles.

It is a great Game though it is 100% the same as Fallout, only a very few new enemies, weapons and items. But otherwise it's a fantastic Playground for Explorers. So many things to see and figure out and what I like best about the Game is that you can only get the real cool Weapons and items if you dig deep under the Surface and check out everything in the World and look under each single rock literally speaking. There are also many chances where you can "ruin" a plot line with one of your decisions (especially if you go for the 1st and most easy option) but that's what I see as Role Gaming aspect. You just can't have it all. :p Also the sidekicks are much more interesting in New Vegas with their backgrounds and unique side quests. I also love the hopping aspect of the Game. Most of the time I want to go somewhere but end in situations or find places of interests and do anything besides going where I initially wanted to go. Always something to do and hard to stick with a single task so it never gets annoying. Without the vast tunnel systems, there is also much lesser idle now and the world is less generic tho it still is.

Re: Fall Out: New Vegas

Techy question here - if the game has bugs, do they get ironed out via the PS network or are they there to stay? You know when you put a game in the drive and it says 'The latest software for this game has been found' does that mean it is correcting errors that people have reported?

Reason I ask is that Fallout NV is 8.99 on play.com but some of the reviews are clearly stating do not buy - but they are old so I wonder if the bugs are finally gone?
